I hope not! I'm going to be on an overnight flight with Delta for almost 15 hours to Japan. Carry ons are limited so it's not like i can bring a pillow and blanket and put it in my purse. So making people pay $7 to order to have a comfortable flight i find it to be ridiculous. Not that the cost of plane tickets right now isn't ridiculous itself.

Maybe they'll start charging to use oxygen masks if the plane is going to crash :P

  1. If you don't like it you are free to find other means to get to the far east.

The airlines must make a profit to survive.......that's called business....that's fine with me........ridiculous is not the issue......the airlines cannot continue to lose money and survive.......you wouldn't pay to go to work would you?

  2. OMG!!! This weekend I'm going on a 15 hr. flight to Beijing China!!!  Anyways, that is insane if Jet Blue to charge you for pillows and blankets! But from my expirience, I don't think they'd do that.  Have fun on your trip! :)

  3. Normally on long flights, or at least on American Airlines and Emirates, they provide you with a little blanket/pillow/headphone "package" that you can use while you're on the plane.  They collect them near the end of the flight but are available for free.

It would be torture! And it is ridiculous...and many airlines may take suit, but it may not (hopefully) apply to flights overseas or over certain amounts of time.

  4. This is for domestic flights...and I don't really see why you would need all that on a domestic flight.  Wear pants, bring a sweatshirt, and an inflatable travel pillow that takes up next to no space at all.  Honestly, most people just throw them in the overhead bins, leaving less space for carry ons.  People are bringing more carry-ons because they don't want to have their bags checked.  I believe most airlines are still giving out pillows and blankets for International flights, this is mainly on domestic US flights that you may not be able to get a pillow or blanket.  Nowadays you just have to know to be prepared.  Honestly, bus tickets are almost as much as airfare...it takes you 2-5 times as long to get where you are going...and they offer you diddly squat!!!  Just something to keep in mind.

  5. well, y'know, at least you get to keep the pillow & blankie and you get a $5 gift cert for BedBathBeyond....compare this with AA, for example, who took off all their pillows & blankets and you don't even have the opportunity to buy one for comfort!

  6. I don't think international flights are cutting back on amenities the way US domestic flights have. Don't forget Delta still has to compete with Nippon Air and JAL to Japan.
