i absolutely hate it most of the time they dont even kill the person until about 10 yrs later even though they have all the evidence of the murder its just a waste of space and also contributes to gangs becoming more powerful people , people doing anything they want in prison because they already know that they cant get any additional time and have no bail, a good example would have to be scott petterson still on death row in the hole he was convicted for the killing of his wife and unborn son and still they have all the evidence and still NOTHING it annoys me so much!!

i honestly think that the government should use torture devices just as back in the 1800's when the romans used them when a person did a crime (that would surely make people think twice!)

the whole shot treatment that slowly kills them is rediculous

i am sure that the victims that have been raped stabbed and tortured would have preferred the injection instead of being brutually tortured

well thats my opinion i feel bad for those who are innocent though!!!

whats your opinion on this topic (DEATH ROW)

  1. Speaking strictly to the comments you make, I actually agree with the length of time they take to kill someone.  This is because it allows more time for any exonerating evidence to come forward, as it has in some cases.  Furthermore, some death row inmates just want to get it over with and die, but by making them wait, they are suffering in a sense because they are locked in a cage for the overwhelming majority of their remaining existence.  However, it is a problem for prison staff that have to manage some of these people since some are problematic.  But as correctional systems and practices improve, so does safety for officers.

Torture mechanisms, although certainly desirable for some killers, should not exist for purposes of death row inmates.  We need to keep to the Constitution in this case, and, to be quite honest, I am not sure if torture would be all that much of a deterrent to some criminals.  If a person is sick enough to kill in a fashion that gets them the death penalty, I'm not sure they have the forethought to consider consequences of any kind.

  2. well i agree with ron white all states need an express lane ...lol no  it takes so long because they have the right to appeal the sentence . some states say it costs more to actually exacute then to just have them in a cell .

  3. I know. The government wants the death penalty to be more humane and less painful. Now all they use is lethal injection. I think they should bring back crucifixion and beheadings and boiling people in oil, and getting stoned to death. That would be perfect.

  4. I can not speak for everyone because there are different circumstances; for example, if a person is innocent and found guilty and sentenced to life in prison he/she may want to appeal.  Personally, if i were ever sentenced to death row and I was guilty I would plea for an immediate death sentence.  What good would it do for me to waste away in jail and cost citizens hundreds of thousands during my stay?

  5. If you look at the actual statistics, violent crime always goes up sharply after an execution.

Educate yourself about the issue by taking a look at how many convicted murderers in Dallas, Texas, alone have been found innocent using DNA evidence.  You might also like to check out a history class and find out when those Romans really lived.

  6. I'm all for the death penalty.  However, as Curious 21 said, there are many different circumstances to every case.  Not every single person is guilty.  There must be time allowed for appeals.  While many victims of murderers are tortured, we CANNOT do this to death row inmates.  The 8th amendment prohibits this.  We have to stand behind the Constitution, even if it is hard to understand sometimes.  If we condone torture, we are no different than terrorists that decapitate people with butter knives.  Many people argue that the death penalty makes the government no better than the accused.  Pro death penalty people will tell you that the death penalty is carried out in the most humane way possible.  Thus, making it reasonable.  I tend to agree with this.  As conservative as I may sound, I think that most people will agree that we cannot do away with the appeals process.
