  1. I read the book as a child, and thought him an excellent hero...all real heroes have dark sides...and the setting made me accept his.

    I remember as a child going to some political thing and hearing Jesse Jackson speak and my skin crawled...and when Louis Farrakhan  visited town when I was a teenager, it drew the same type of crowd as the KKK.

    But Malcolm X...he was a hero, he was not a saint, but when I read of him, I knew that he was a great man: a man to relate to, a man who overcame much, but still a man. A man with many role model qualities and some that weren't.

    I found it tragic that he died...he had grown so much as a human, I wondered how much further he could have grown in his existence.

    and was a man that should great growth in his life.
