What do you think of Mc Cain's league of democracies idea?

the one that he says he wants to found to circumvent the UN...if he is president to help "promote" democracies around the world?

What do you think this league of democracies would be mostly doing?

Promoting democracy is a bad idea.  If you promote democracy in Islamic countries you get extremists elected, much like Hamas was elected to office by the Palestinians.

I suspect it would be much like the G8... a group of leaders of nations meeting to discuss matters that affect them all.

It would not circumvent the U.N., because it would not have any power to act... individual member nations would still have to take the normal steps to fulfill any agreements made, just as they would if the leaders met without being under a label like "league of democracies".

Rubber stamping what ever misguided policy is currently being touted by the white house. We only want democracies that elect who we tell them to.
