  1. McCain's rapid selection of Palin with no thorough vetting send shivers up the spines of his supporters.  His judgment was always in question, but now this...

  2. The more I look at this nomination, the more I'm convinced he just wanted her to have an affair with while married to Cindy, like he did with Carol.

  3. I think she is the whole package and it is refreshing to see our political system reach out to the qualified for once that would not usually be given a chance. She is not Dan Qualye. She can spell...

Tell me how she is less qualified then the top of the other ticket. I think that was McCain's point in choosing her.

It keeps the media comparing her and Obama and that lowers him in stature. Everytime they bash her, he has done something worse or has less experience in government. It gives McCain the ability to go on offense and not look mean.

She is the perfect counter punch to him.

  4. I've been following her (along with my wife) for about a year.  I always thought she would be a great president because of her devil may care attitude and positions on drilling and guns.  She's sued the government to drill for oil!  I also like that she took on the good ol boy club in her own party to do what was right.  Corruption needs to go no matter who's party it's in.  Mrs. Smith goes to Washington.

I just didn't think he'd do it.  McCain surprised me though.  I was a fence sitter too, and was considering Bob Barr.  Now I'm probably going to donate to the McCain/Palin campaign.

  5. I don't think that it was wise choice in terms of what is best for the country.  It appears that it was a wise choice in terms of what is best for his campaign.  He picked Palin because his base is more focused on moral issues than policy issues - i.e. they care more about the issues of abortion and g*y marriage than they do about other issues that have nothing to do with any sort of moral judgment call.  The traditional base of the republican party is conservative Christians and there was a feeling among that group that McCain was not conservative enough.  His first choice, Lieberman, is pro-choice which was a tremendous problem for him.  So, instead of going with someone else, he chose Palin because she is a woman and that could be appealing to women who were supporting Hillary solely because she was a woman and she's uber conservative which brought new life to his base.  She is seen as a woman who is "just like them," a working mother who allegedly has strong, conservative family values.

It doesn't appear that his choice has hurt him in terms of those who were already solidly in his camp.  It remains to be seen how his choice has effected those who were like me and on the fence.  Personally, this shifted me to the Obama camp because this decision was really a pandering in my mind and it wasn't the best choice for the country.  It's great to bring in someone who is outside of the beltway but I don't want someone who is so far outside of the beltway that she didn't even own a passport until about a year ago.  Someone who has admitted that she hasn't really been following Iraq and has no idea what's going on in Iran.  I have grave concerns about Palin and I now have grave concerns about McCain for picking her as his second in command.  He said that he woud pick the person who was most ready to be commander-in-chief.  I don't think that anyone could argue that out of all of his options Sarah Palin was the person who best fit that bill.

  6. His choice is typical of what you will expect from his administration.

He chose her because he received pressure from conservative groups.

Sarah Palin may be articulate, however, her decisions, actions, and life reveal a pattern of abuse of power that will haunt the Republican campaign.

  7. Sarah Palin can help reach the Republican base.  She is a mother of five, a working women who became successful without going to an Ivy "big name" school, she has worked hard to get where she is today.  She is a compelling person with a true "American" story of hard work - not a perfect person - but one who wants a better country.

  8. Palin is an anti-choice homophobic creationist, which means she is no mental giant.

McSame is stupid if he thinks the supporters of Hilary will ever vote for a woman who would deny women their rights.
