Do you think it's a good choice? Do you think he's trying to counter Obama's blackness with Palin's femaleness?

I know...wrong section, but I'm sure this has been beaten to death in the elections section, and I'd like to hear your opinions.

  1. McCain is sinking and he knows it. It's a desperate move that any intelligent person will see as highly flawed (Omagus mentioned both of these but they bare repeating):

    1. McCain's entire campaign, the only thing he has to use against Obama is his inexperience. So he picks up probably the least experienced person that could realistically be an option for VP? What does that say about McCain's attack of Obama's experience?

    2. McCain is old, and the sad truth is that he doesn't have a guaranteed 4 more years. Especially with the stress his body was put through as a youth. He kicks it, tell me you want this VP running the country.

I honestly think Obama put the fork in this last night. The DNC was a huge success and this VP pick was a final grasp that I think kills McCain's campaing. I think he'll win but If this doesn't end up in an Obama landslide I'll be surprised.

There are two things I don't hear focused on much that are important here:

    1. African Americans (a group that has historically posted low voting numbers) will show up at the polls to vote Obama, if for no other reason than they share a skin tone with Barack.

    2. This is no guarantee because they say this every year but I think young Democrats (18-25) will show in record numbers to vote Obama, if for no other reason than to be a part of a culture changing event.

  2. i think that this the RHH section and realy do not care for politics....all they are is puppets..........take this over to the politics section >>>

  3. Genius

  4. She's the BEST ever and already hated and scorned by the Demoscums / Obamaites.

I hope this pair runs Team Obama right out of the country.

  5. I dont know who she even is!!!!

  6. It is a huge tactical mistake. She is unknown, has little or no international experience and she doesn't bring many votes. And with McCain's age, there will be a lot of uncertainty about her suitability to be president. This choice has all but assured an Obama victory.

  7. i think mccain is stupid for picking her a women who has been gov. of a state with such low population. how is she goin to handle the whole US.

  8. pawlenty is a much better choice

does anyone else see a little too close of a resemblance between:

    obama Biden

    &

    osama BinLaden

    a little too close

  9. I think she's pretty hot for an old lady! No seriously, I think it may be a counter against barrack obama's  ethnicity though. At least john McCain hasn't brought on tons of black celebrities to fuel his campaign though. In all honesty this is a race about sexuality, and race. It was bound to happen one day, but I still don't think that the nation is ready for this. The only thing obama has going for him is that he's black! If it weren't for that then I can guarantee that he would not have made it this far.

  10. I can't wait for Obama to eat her alive!!

  11. He's trying to show that he can be as dynamic as Barack.  It could've been a black man & a woman for the democrats so McCain must think he might gain votes from disgruntled women who are mad that Clinton didn't get at least VP

  12. I think it's a great choice. As for her being unknown, no-one knew who obama was until he started running for president.

  13. I'm not that impressed.  To give you an idea of how little it impressed me, I was more impressed by this top ten list someone sent me this morning: http://www.bofad.s.com/stories/injuries.... .  And THAT is saying something!

  14. Come on mechanical... what is Blackness??????

I'm black and I don't even know what that means...

About his selection: McCain is desperate. He is absolutely desperate, she's the governor of Alaska for Pete's sake, what does she know about the threats of the 21st century? Wow, McCain is really showing his age with this decision.

He's underestimated the American people with  this decision, it's sure to backfire.. he took the fact that Hilary Clinton was so successful in the preliminaries and chose a woman strategically in order to gain the support of those who voted for Hilary Clinton.. this is a last ditch effort of behalf of the Republican Party.

He would have been better off choosing Mitt Romney, who is an established political figure, successful business man, well versed on economics and devout republican, I must admit that this broad Sarah is Fine, she's a s**y old broad.. but not s**y enough to get my vote.

McCain is 100 years old. He is not fit to run this country.

  15. I think McCain is trying to pull votes from people that would have voted for H. Cliton.

  16. The choice can be argued in both directions.  McCain's camp is hoping to pick up those undecided Hilary backers while Obama's side will point to the fact that she has even less experience than Obama does.

Ultimately, I think this is a very short-sighted choice from McCain.  It brings back his "Maverick" image but that's about it.

    1) No one outside of Alaska knows who she is.  Alaska has the same amount of electoral votes as Delaware.

    2) The aforementioned lack of experience, especially considering that McCain is 72 years old.  If McCain gets elected it means that a woman who two years ago was the mayor of an Alaskan suburb is a heartbeat away from being President of the United States.  And did I mention that McCain is 72?

    3) It gives him less of a hold on the south, which should have been a huge coup once Obama went with someone from the Northeast.

I respect McCain for trying something different but unless he and Palin *kill* at the RNC next week (and he for sure is not particularly well known for being a dynamic public speaker), the two week period will have been HUGE for Obama/Biden.

  17. Palin's "...articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking..."
