  1. scam this is a simple water vapor injector system

the electrical part is a simple heater to heat the water to get more vapor.

    yes you are getting hydrogen

    as water vapor

what the system does is you fill the tank full of water

in the tank there are two tubes

one comes from the outside  to a bubblier in the bottom of the water tank

this makes fine bubbles that with the heater in the tank create a cloud of vapor that is drawn out the other tube into one of the  vacuum lines under the carb.

or into a manifold vacuum line on a fuel injected engine.

i built a system like this 30 years ago and am still using my system.

the only difference in my system is that the water is heated from the truck radiator system by putting two fittings in the heater hoses and running hot radiator water through a coil of copper tubing in the tank

my system uses plain tap water

and the heating system uses no electrical power

i can also add alcohol to the tank for more boost.

NVI is just doing free and loose marketing by taking a old idea adding a new name and making it sound like a super product.

all these companies are pulling the same scam,

calling a water vapor injector a hydrogen generator.

give it 2 more years and there will be 100s of these scammers selling these.

by the way these water vapor injector do work.

but why pay $1000s of dollars for something you can build yourself for about $50.

it will gain you about 10 to 20% improvement.

if the outside humidity is less then 40%

    at a 100% humidity you will get about 2 to 5 %

  2. It's bogus, don't buy or use it.  Good ole fashioned snake oil, with a good ole fashioned snake oil description and sales pitch.

I looked at their web page, and it contained pages and pages of cyclic descriptions, press releases totally unrelated to their company, and found-less statements.  The evasiveness of their website, and the gobs of stuff about what others (totally unrelated to NVI) have done, is usually a prime indicator of grade-A horse manure (just in case you ever want to research something in the future).

    Now for the technical reasons:

I finally found something vague relating to how their device works, and the patents they have applied for.  From this information it looks like:

    1) It uses electricity from your car's alternator for the electrolysis

    of water to produce hydrogen.

    2) The hydrogen is channeled into your engine's air intake.

    Let's examine this:

    1) Yes, the electrolysis of water produces hydrogen and oxygen.

    2) Yes, it is possible to pipe gases from an electrolysis chamber into your engine's air intake.

More than likely, the device can actually do the electrolysis and injection of the hydrogen into the air intake.  Of course, with these sham products, they often don't even work like the manufacturer says, let alone fulfill any claims.

    The claim is:

Adding hydrogen to the fuel-air mixture will improve engine efficiency and output.

    The science:

    1) The claim is bunk: The basis of their entire claim is wrong.  The fuel-air mixture is specially controlled so that there is a proper amount of air for the amount of fuel so that the combustion is maximized (it's already 99.999% burnt).  Adding any amount of hydrogen to the mixture will throw off the ratio and DECREASE combustion and efficiency.  In fact, it was once tested whether natural gas added to an engine's intake could cause it to stall.  The answer was "yes", and it only took a very small amount to do it.

Now, a small amount of hydrogen can allow a leaner mixture and slightly retarded timing due to a faster burn.  This also allows for a higher compression ratio.  All of this involves additional alterations to the engine and timing computer.  Some of them (like compression), drastic.  And if you run out of hydrogen (water) while such an engine is running... $$$$ to the mechanic.  Of course, the NVI system couldn't even do this because:

    2) Electrolysis too weak:  Even if adding hydrogen could increase power, the device wouldn't produce enough hydrogen to do it.  Electrolysis is a very slow and energy intensive means to create hydrogen.  A car's electrical system simply isn't up to the task.  An external hydrogen cylinder would be a better option, until you run out and your modified engine kills itself.  BTW, a hydrogen tank is a much, much, cheaper option.... and it might actually work.

    3) The Second Law of Thermodynamics: The physical LAW which prevents perpetual motion machines.  The device uses electricity from your car to do the electrolysis.  The electricity is produced from your alternator, which gets its energy from the engine.  The engine gets its energy from the fuel.  Even if adding hydrogen to the intake could increase engine output (or you modified your engine so it could), the electrolysis device would gobble up far more energy than it could add to your engine.

    What should you do:

Don't buy it.  Don't buy into it.  This product and website are examples of BS.  Learn about BS so that you can identify it in the future, and avoid it.  If you did buy the product, do not install it, as it will probably damage your car.  It if is installed, remove it ASAP.  If you spent money on it, file a fraud complaint with the FTC or your state's attorney general, or equivalent government agency if you are outside the US.

Edit -- As EMT-B noted, NVI also makes a vapor generator.  A vapor generator CAN help in an engine which has developed carbon buildups in two ways. 1) Reduce pings to improve compression and efficiency.  2) Help reduce or clean out some of the build up.  3) Lower combustion temperature if your EGR valve has failed.  However, you can get a chemical head and valve cleaning at some service stations which will help that a lot.  And if your EGR valve is broken, replace it.  In a properly working and clean engine, adding water vapor either won't help, or will actually hinder the engine.  NVI's vapor generator is also ridiculously priced.

  3. It’s a con. $2,000 a pop too, my how the price has gone up and you get about $30 in parts

I want you to think about this, if it worked, why don’t you see them on new cars? The auto companies have to meet CAFÉ (corporate average fuel economy) numbers as well as the California Air Resources Board (CARB) numbers. Even if the US car companies sold out to big oil, why don’t you see them in India, Japan, China, ETC. Or do you really believe that big oil forced every country in the world to sell out to them? And if big oil managed to get to EVERY county why haven’t they shut down this web site?

It’s been tested, time and time again, and it fails every time. And just so you know this con has been around before the 1970’s.

Here let me tell you for free how to save fuel ready?

1 keep you car in tune.

    2 change your air filters

3 check the air in your tires and keep them at the proper pressure

4 plan out your trips and combine them whenever possible

5 if it’s closer then 6 blocks walk

6 ride a bike whenever possible, you don’t burn any gas and you’ll be healthier

Do that and you’ll save more gasoline then you ever will with this silly device.

  4. I think people will wait because some companies are really close to being able to convert distilled water to hydrogen on the fly using nanoparticles and electrolysis.  This means just filling your tank with distilled water instead of messing with hydrogen fuel cells.

  5. It takes more energy to run it than you can get back from using the hydrogen as fuel.

  6. I think it is fesiable to use NVI hydrogen generator by the following clipped out from the website. In a hydrogen generator, the gasses bubble up in a cylinder and are sucked into a

vehicle's intake system where they combine with the normal fuel/air mixture.

The gasses then become part of the combustion process that powers a vehicle, supplementing

the fuel normally burned. According to NVI, the addition of hydrogen has been shown to

improve gas mileage and power by 10 to 40 percent, depending upon engine displacement and

other factors. The power to run a generator comes from a vehicle's alternator that's always

turning. It takes about 15 amps to run a hydrogen generator properly and NVI literature states

that this energy drain is more than compensated for by the improvement in combustion.

I think the only technological consideration is the 15amps to run a hydrogen generator. It is a high current flow in a continuos running engine. I hope someday it can modify to a more appropriate NVI hydrogen generator. Although it states that the improving milage 10-40%, it is still not perfect.

I think Hong Kong, the most polluted city in this world, four times more polluted than Los Angels (the most polluted city in North America). The Hong Kong government is still keeping the two fossil fuel power generating stations, and not even up to1% of Hong Kong vechicles applied the Euro4 engines, never think about Euro5 or NVI hydrogen generator. I admire the many Americans are more concerned to the clean environment. What the price of Hong kong peoples pay are nearly 1.5 million citizens are sicked with asthma, lung and heart diseases in a city of total population of almost 7 millions. The following website described Hong Kong is the most polluted city, much worsen than LA and London-a city of death!
