Do you think he may have alterior motives since he has been buying up water rights and is now stating that we need to invest in wind and hydrogen technology?

  1. What he has been buying is every wind turbine he can get his hands on (and that turns out to be all of them) - and I never bet against a guy with that much money.

  2. Picken's is for Picken's.....and nothing more.

  3. Energy seems like a good investment.  Hard to go wrong in that sector today.  Real estate is a perennial good investment.  Combining the two is brilliant.

  4. Just the same as it has been since Capitalizm has been defined as such.  Its about the MONEY $$$!

Some capitalists are about being nice to Mother Nature

in addition to making MONEY $$$! but the MONEY is alwasy first!

  5. Think about it a little.  Pickens is 80 years old and worth 15 billion dollars.  Do you think he's doing this because he needs more lobster dinners, or even another Rolls???

He is trying to save America as we know it.  He is buying up right-of-way in the wind belt of the Southwest to try to replace our use of natural gas for electricity with wind-generated electricity.  The natural gas conversion should be easy for ALMOST ANY CAR.  The United States is going to have an economy similar to India's in a generation unless we reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

  6. oh yea, evil oilman out to rape your daughter and steal your cat.

His plan is OK, but someone, maybe as rich as T. Boone, needs to get the ball rolling and build the infrastructure.

Wind, solar, hydrogen is NOT CHEAP. Today, even with gas at about $4.20/gal it is still cheaper than converting cars to LP or natural gas or hydrogen, building the infrastructure to supply the LP, NG or hydrogen, and then to buy the wind mills, and to top it off, have Teddy (hand me another one barkeep) Kennedy tell the USA "Not In My Backyard".

  7. He has a great plan, but he should also add more refineries and drill more oil here at home.
