What do you think of The Vancouver Canucks 08/09 Season?

In the off-season if things go well and we get Mats Sundin and (Rumored) Pavol Demitra I think we will have a chance at the cup!!! Are Line up will look like this:

1st Line: Ryan Kesler, Mats Sundin, Pavol Demitra

2nd Line: Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Steve Bernier

3rd Line: Taylor Pyatt, Ryan Johnson, Mason Raymond

4th Line: Alex Burrows, Kyle Wellwood, Darcy Hordichuk

Defence:

1st: Mattias Ohlund, Willie Mitchell

2nd: Sami Salo, Kevin Bieksa

3rd: Lucas Krajicek, Alexander Edler

Goal:

1st: Roberto Luongo

2nd: Curtis Sanford

Extra Players:

Jeff Cowan

Matt Pettinger

If this is are line-up we will have Scoring, Defence, and Luongo. If we don't get Mats Sundin or Pavol Demitra I think we will end up in position 9-13 in the west. Let me know what you think of my line-up and what you would change.

I'm not sure Pavol Demitra and Mats Sundin could  get you close to the Cup, especially since you lost Markus Naslund, who in my opinion was a better fit for your team than either Sundin or Demitra.  Anything could happen, but you still don't have much in the line of scoring depth past your 2nd line.  Who knows how well Demitra Sundin and Kesler (if that ends up being the 1st line) will play together?  I still don't think you have much defensive depth either.  However, Roberto Luongo is still one of the best goalies in the league, so there's obviously hope.  Unfortunately, you'll end up having to play the Red Wings and I think they're just too strong to choke.  We'll see when the season rolls around.

I'm not sure Sundin will go to Vancouver, he would take less money to play in Toronto New York or possibly Montreal. Secondly Demitra is awful. He totally under achieved in Minny for 2 years, what makes you think he has anything in the tank?  Personally I think the next 3 years will come to be known as the dark ages in Vancouver, Gillis looks outmatched and unprepared already. How long till Luongo demands a trade is my question. Canucks... sadly battling the Leafs for the first draft pick in 2009.

Well i agree with Kiks, they need a couple all stars like a first line LW, and mabey some prety good soild players for 3rd, and 4th lines,

Defince is good, but it would be better if we had a all-star d-man just one,

Hossa might have came here, but know he wanted to win, so it wouldnt have came to vancouver,

Like the other dude said "dark ages, they should just give up for a couple of seasons, and pick up the next good rookies,  we have to see,

At least luongo is good, if he wants to leave, we can probly get a good player for him,

Well it looks alright, but we gotta wait for the games to see how the chemistry works, and how well they play with new teamates, so at the begin they are going to shuffle lines a lot, but after a while we will see how well they do

BTW-Morison turned down 9 contracts and signed with The Ducks, i think he did that cause its a prety good team+ Nonis and Burke are there!

When did bertuzi go to Calgary? , i didnt hear anything about that,...Ok it was on monday(today or last week)

The canucks could have sighned him too, i know hes not as good as he was back then, but he would still be a prety good player,

So West Coast Express has 0% chance of going back together, those were crazy games!!!!!

i know theeses line are not possible , but they could have been good

The only reason Sundin is going to move across Canada and join the Nuks is if he is desperate for the oodles of money your team is throwing at him.  If I know Mats Sundin, or at least his visible character, he is more likely to stay with the Leafs or join one of the closer East Coast teams for less money than move to Vancouver.

Assuming you don't get Sundin, what then?  You lost Naslund who is probably the your best player and the Nuks have made no additional impact acquisitions.  

"I  think we will end up in position 9-13 in the west"  this right here tells me you realize exactly how good the Canucks are going to be next year and I respect that.  Realizing your team is in dire straits instead of going omg we are gonna be great makes me give you mad props.

Yea its alright but i still dont think the canucks can take it with this many players, they need a couple more allstars they shud make a trade like the one in florida, 3 players for 1 good one

Do you think hossa would have come to van if they gave him a contract offer? i dont know, he might have, the nucks shoud have tried

They did not have a productive off season and i think they will pick high next year.

Sundin is basically just replacing Naslund... So you're expecting that change and the possible addition of Demitra to win them a Stanley Cup ? Don't bet on it...

Sundin doesn't seem too interested in Vancouver, and Demitra is probably holding back waiting to see what Sundin does... since without him, that team has no chance (The Sedins have proved useless in the playoffs for scoring)
