  1. Not very much.  I will not purchase anything made in Viet Nam.  They have never returned hundreds of POWs from the Viet Nam war.  They were holding out for war reparations that were promised them by Kissinger.  When the congress said no to the money, they balked on returning our POWs.  Our politicians, true to their nature, has written these men off as dead.

CSPAN had a couple of intercept analysts on talking about following the movements of American POWs  for the V.N. war in the USSR.

So what do you think of your politicians?  They send you to an undeclared war, and then write you off as dead when you don't come back.

  2. It is a very friendly beautiful country.  There is so much to do and see.  The food is fantastic, especially the baguette's they make and the seafood is cheap and so fresh.  The trains there are really so much fun to travel on too.  We have been all over the country from North to South.  We have been there 5 times and will return this summer again for a month.  We spend most of our time in Hue (the old Imperial City) and Hanoi.  Both great places to spend time.  All in all we really enjoy Vietnam, that is my answer.  Good times you will have if you visit too.  Cheers

  3. It's still a poor country but it has gone a long way in just the last 20 years. It's now the second fastest growing economy in the world, after China.

On the busy streets of the big cities, the bicycles had been replaced for the most part by the mopeds and motor-scooters which are in turn gradually being replaced by the automobiles; many of the luxury types! Saigon in bursting with new construction of high rises and buildings of all types and to a lesser extend, so are Hanoi, Haiphong and Danang.

From Halong Bay to the North to Phu Quoc Island off the southwestern most coast of Vietnam, modern resorts of world-class standards  are popping up like mushrooms after a rain. From a country that could build only small fishing boats during the American occupation, Vietnam is now one of the most active shipbuilding nations in the world. It even builds large ocean going vessels for Japan and England! Incredible!

You must go there and see for yourself the magical transformation of that beautiful land and its hospitable people. (The people are only fierce when you want to come as conquerors. Otherwise, they are among the most gentle in the world...)

  4. I like it there a lot .... been there 2 times recently ... great food .. lots of history ....  interesting culture ..... I think it is cool .... the "war" is totally history now (why did I even mention it anyway?) ....  many of the old time hard liners that were in the government back in those days  are now so old they are being replaced by a younger generation ....  with a more progressive outlook, shall we say ....

if you are thinking about going ... well ... I would ... I will just leave it at that ...  you will have fun!

PS .. do you like the beach?  That country has miles of deserted [perfect] coastline .....  sooooooooooooo nice !
