What do you think of Woods not winning the Masters?

Too many people predicted Woods would win this thing. I predicted he would not win it, and I was right. It is really dumb to pick anyone against the entire field, even if that someone is Tiger Woods.

  1. I am glad he did not win it because he plays the game like it is a business and not as a sport to have fun.  He hardly ever smiles, unlike many of the other golfers on tour, which does not make it as much fun to watch a lot of the time.  He does not seem to be a gentlemen of the game like people from the past such as Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Crenshaw and Trevino.  The game is more important than the player.  Also, it is good to see different players win the tournaments, not just one.

  2. No big deal he's already won 4.

  3. woods is just another overhyped american sportsman by the american media! he is another andy roddick.. im just glad a non-american has won the major. the PGA championship should be given to china and make it the china open. the US already has 3 of the 4 majors n it should be reduced to just the masters n US open. awesome trevor immelman!!!

  4. I agree. Sports media is just so liberal in this day an age. Everything has to be "affirmed" or played up.

Tiger's great, but they don't give ANYONE a chance.

  5. I don't think much of it.  He'll win it again sooner or later.  That is a guarantee.

  6. Most sports fans know how good Tiger Woods is and how extraordinary his accomplishments are at such a young age.  He continues to break every golf record possible. What do I think about his second place finish?  I think it proves that he is a human being and can't win every single time he tees it up.  Remember, Dale Earnhardt didn't win every race he entered and the Yankees don't win every world series.

  7. He will win it again. Nice win by Immelman..after what he has been through this year.

  8. Jack Nichlaus holds the record for most majors won at 18...but he also has 19 second place finishes.  Most of those times Jack could have won but not for some incredible, once-in-a-lifetime performances that no one could predict (such as his Masters runner up finish to Charles Coody in 1971)

Tiger Woods played good golf, but not great golf.  His good golf is still enough to beat 99% of the tour at any given time.  But he ran up against a guy coming off cancer surgery and playing the tournament of his life.

So what do I think?  I think that this shows that while nobody can defeat Tiger when he's at his best, someone else CAN defeat Tiger when they are playing at their best.  And the fact that Tiger still has to work for his championships are what make them special, and will ultimately be what keeps Tiger coming back to win a dozen or so more of them over the next 20 years.

Tiger WILL break Jack's record of 18 major championships...but he will also break Jack's record of 19 major runner ups as well.  Because he is just that good and that dedicated to his sport.

  9. I really don't understand this obsession with Tiger Woods.  I like to play golf, but watching it is as boring as watching the grass grow.  I realize the signifcance of Tiger's accomplishments, but I think he receives way too much press for it.  I'm a die hard sports fan, pretty much all sports, college and pro, but I've never had a conversation about any specific tournament in which Tiger has played.
