Aparently there has been opned the first islam pub...the Halal Inn???? Sales are not 'roaring' (increasing) as they say...would you be surprised?

[I would be surprised if Christians, Jews etc started doing the same].

Actually I think Christians have done so theyve got strings of family restaurants.-which is good.

  1. Totally pointless having an non-alcoholic pub ... thats not a pub ! Its an outrage ! Lol :)

  2. About as useful as a chocolate c ck.

  3. I think a few of you are forgetting that the word "pub" is short for Public House - basically meaning somewhere for people to meet in public.

The fact it doesn't sell alcohol is not a factor in why it should or shouldn't be called a pub.

If the Halal Inn wants to be the first pub not selling alcohol then good luck to it - as long as anyone is allowed in.  It should still be open to all the public regardless of religion.

It would be nice to have a place where adults only can go and have a non alcoholic drink with friends without having kids running round like in cafes.

    Again good luck to them.

  4. I'd call that a cafe

  5. I think that's ridiculous. You go to a pub for a drink. Why not just go to an alcoholic pub and order a non-alcoholic drink?!

No wonder sales aren't roaring. What's the point of going unless

you're not old enough to drink or strongly religious? And most religious people would never go to a pub for a drink, maybe for a meal, but not alcohol.

    =]

  6. non alcoholic pubs have not been financially successful in this area. I doubt if it would be self sustaining.

  7. No. when they try to blend in with western ways its wrong and when they ignore western ways its wrong.

They are in a no win situation because of idiots like your self knocking them

  8. why not.

  9. Welcome to Britain...........

  10. would it last--not really -- good them though-I dont think theyve thought about the non-religious pll in that area!

Tryna be Western in more ways than one and I thought western values wernt their thing anyway.

  11. a pub without alcohol is not a pub in my view, that's why I go to a pub for food and a decent drink not tapwater.

Edit: Its there choice, but I'm reminded of certain muslim countries some time ago, where even drinking is banned (exept under police permit for foreigners in compounds)some are still infringing on this.hypocritical. So if they see it as a way of encouraging people to stick to their beliefs I have no problem with it, wouldn't go in but that's my way.

  12. about as worthless as a non-smoking pub.

  13. boring

  14. but if there was no alcohol it would not be a pub, it would just be a gathering, so there would be no point in calling that, i think its great idea about having somewhere to meet and socalise, i think the halal inn will be very unsuccesful, sorry to say!!!!!

  18. Do you think it would be men only? Will the ladies just be doing the catering in the kitchen wearing Hijabs while the men puff on their hubble bubble pipes and play board games. What about integrating with the rest of us?
