What do you think of a person when they tell you they are a driving instructor?

I am a certified teacher looking for work, and I just accepted a job as a driving instructor. I get free certification (which is always a bonus), and I may sub while I'm doing this. My question is what do you think of when someone tells you they are a driving instructor? Be honest! Also, if there are any USA driving instructors out there give me the skinny on what you get paid and how much you are given for gas. The cool thing is I get a company car and make time and a half after 32 hours. Someone .....respond........with anything. My mother is going to kill me for taking this job....LOL.

If it was one of my friends I'd take them out for the ride of their life. OOOHH! That's what you can do. After telling your mama or friends about your job, take them out for a drive, and drive all wacko. Then no one will feel pressure being with you after that. That job most be great, I'm sure you'll really love it later.

I think of my old HS Gym teacher teaching driver's ed.  Not the most mentally challenging person.

Instructor/Teacher job, plain and simple.

I think you can go to www.ajb.com and find what job pays what in that area. Parade magazine does this like twice a year. Founded in the Sundays paper.

Woe..

Same here, No Offense intended. but you did ask.

First, I tend to think that they must be lazy or just didn't want to bother with finding a better job.

Second, I think, "Oh Well" maybe they are (elderly) actually retired and this is just a part time job for supplemental income.

Third, I think,, Well maybe this was just the only job they could find.

And then I think of all those idiotic drivers they probably have to deal with and "Wow", I bet there glad to go home at the end of the day,, LOL

If someone told me that they worked as a driving instructor I would think they had  a cool job.  Here is why:

1.  You will gain great experience in coaching others.  This is a great skill to develop for later use in you teaching carer.

2.  You will meet new people every day.  You will learn a lot about working with people as a driving instructor.  

3.  You you will be working outside as opposed to being stuck in an office.

4.  I don't know what the pay is for your job, but I suspect you will earn as much as someone working in retail sales in a mall, bank teller, fast food, and like jobs.

5. You may be eligible for lower insurance rates for your own automobile insurance given your profession.   If you are a young person, this could amount to a nice savings.

6.  Free gas and car?  Hello- that is a good deal these days.

I think your mom will be quite impressed with your decision to take this job.  Good luck!
