What do you think of a tattoo of a book?

I'm planning on getting a tattoo (soon), something that I won't look back on with regret and I've decided to get a book with my full name on it because I've led a pretty crazy life. On top it'll say " I life by:" and then in the middle my name. What do you think of this?

  1. Words are hard to read. Every picture

tells a story. Work on your idea .

  2. If you mean

      ..........my life by

    Then it sounds great.

  3. Well, it seems to be a good 'seed thought', but needs a lot of work yet to pull it off.

There are a myriad of ways this could look, not all of them very good.

You could pull off an incredible tattoo with this idea, but tiny details make all the difference.

That fact that you did not proofread your question, makes me pause and wonder how developed is your idea.

Have you drawn it out? Is the book open or closed? Is it realistic or stylistic? What color is the cover? What script are you using? How big is it going to be? Where are you placing it on your body? Is there detail on the book jacket? Is it a hardback or paperback?

How old are you? How much of your life have you lived that has been so crazy? If you are under 30, you may want to hold this idea for a few decades.

If you get this now, I hope that there's a lot of information that you didn't tell us.

And I hope that the title isn't "I life by:"

    Good luck with this...

  4. i think changing your design concept a little might help convey your message more accurately and make your tattoo look a little more original; for starters, i suggest you change your chosen caption to

a short & simple personal motto, favorite quote or proverb. something like 'carpe diem' which means 'seize the day' in latin. also, getting an open book with pages turning fast and freely might help suggest the kind of life you've led thus far. maybe you could have the other pages show a glimpse of the various chapters and events in your life and leave the last few pages blank with a large question mark or ellipsis at the bottom. i know this sounds very complicated but with the link i've provided, i hope you can at least get a chance to envision what i had in mind and give it some thought. i'm sure any capable and imaginative tattoo artist would be able to create a very unique and beautiful design for you.

  5. actually, i think its a really great idea... REALLY creative

  6. It sounds very original to me.

  7. The idea is very creative but take it to tat shop and get them to draw up.

  8. I don't like it. I think words by themselves would be cooler.
