What do you think of a thiago alves vs diego sanchez fight?

and the winner fighting the winner of fitch and gsp do you think those are the top fighters at welterweight and do you think it would be a good fight

Diego isn't a top contender right now and Alves in my mind shouldn't have to compete in an eliminater match to be the next number 1 conteder. Sanchez loss back to back and two victories haven't been over big name guys. Fioravanti isn't top ten and Daivd Bielkheden's first fight in the Octagon was against Diego. And you can say all you want thaat Alves didn't make weight, but he and Matt agred to a catch weight and Alves won. Plus if I remember, both fighters were fighting on some degree of short notice.

alves would definitely beat sanchez but if either one of them went against gsp they would lose

i think this would be a mismatch.  really alves should be fighting at MW, he missed weight for the hughes fight and he got busted using a duiretic to make weight for one of his other fights.  and sanchez, if he wasn't so hard-headed, would drop down to LW.

i think alves would simply overpower sanchez.

I don't like either of them. Both of these fighters beat my favorite fighter (Karo Parisyan), so I don't care. But at the same time, it would be interesting. Honestly, I think Thiago would win. He's ox strong, and he's on a role. Diego, (although still dangerous and fully able to kick ***) doesn't have much left in him.

I think Diego is done. He had so much trouble beating that tomato can Fiorivanti, with his fat gut. Alves would stomp diego. No Chance.

Diego is a great fighter, he just stumbles with elite wrestlers. And his only two losses were decisions to Jon Fitch and Josh Koscheck who are in the top 5 welterweights.

I think the fight would be explosive with both of there fighting styles being fast paced. I would give Alves a slight advantage but think Sanchez still has a GOOD chance at winning.

Diego recently said he wanted to back to his "bread and butter" of being a ground and pound kind of a fighter. If not previously mentioned, Diego had a problem of keeping Luigi down.

I am not being biased because I am a Alves fan. I just don't see Diego being able to stop the striking and power of Alves. He has great defense and the deadly leg kicks in MMA.

Diego will have one more fight before he should be contender for the welterweight division.

Thiago's next fight should be for the title after 87.

Diego is a good fighter, but he should really drop down to 155.  Alves is huge for 170 (he made Matt Hughes look small!), and I think his power would be too much for Sanchez.
