  1. It's a great concept.  Hydrogen is obviously much more abundant than fossil fuels and the exaust is water.  Fantastic.

But they run off hydrogen cells, which must be produced in factories, factories that can still create pollution.  We have the technology to convert factory pollution into energy, though.

Then the cells need to be "recharged" once ina while.  So hydrogen filling stations need to be built.

Short answer, it's a beautiful concept but it's an expensive one.  It'll be a long time before any investors hop on the hydrogen band wagon and the government isn't helping much since there's still so much money to be made in oil sales.

  2. It would not be that polluting free. If u burn hydrogen with air it will produce large amounts of NO2. That is why the environmentalist retarded the timing on gasoline cars. This reduces the high temperatures . Needless to say ,hydrogen will produce more NO2.

  3. It's a pleasant pipe dream, but it's just not practical. Hydrogen is currently made from natural gas, not water, so cleanliness is relative. It can't be stored easily, and we have no current infrastructure to support a hydrogen economy.

    Too bad, really.

  4. Where are you going to get the electricity needed to make the hydrogen?

  5. great idea, they only produce water vapor. but i am not aware of anybody who is marketing one.

while the process of zapping water with electricity to separate the hydrogen and oxygen has been used by , at least, the US navy for many years, the problem is getting a car small enough, and cheap enough, to do it.

  6. I think that anything you can do to help the environment would be a great accomplishment. Although Hydrogen can be toxic and explosive, if cared for properly, the car would be cleaner and cheaper. I mean gas is like $4.00 a gallon. But i think if you could come up with a clean, safe gas ,like hydrogen, that is cheap... go ahead.

  7. Doesn't work.  The hydrogen would be made by electrolysis of water, using electricity.  And then turned back into electricity by the fuel cell.   So essentially it's used to store electricity.

But there are MUCH more efficient ways to store electricity that don't involve explosive gases, and that can be refilled anywhere there's power.  They are called batteries.

"Oh, but it'll take hours to recharge batteries."  Not so.  You can already get 15 minute chargers.
