  1. its a piratical start to escape gas burner its all in the distance you have to drive everyday, and where you are --alt. hills. etc.

  2. Heck yeah I would. However, the greenest car is still and always will be the one you don't drive.

But electrics are awesome. 2 cents per mile, quick and light, silent, sleek and stylish, etc.

They are also becoming increasingly affordable, given their lowering retail costs and the rising cost of gasoline.

  3. Hmm. . . a good fraction of my local electricity is generated by coal-fired power plants.  Coal is pretty cheap in this part of the world, so we'll probably keep using it for a while.

Nah, I think I'd rather get a hybrid at this point than go all-electric.  So long as most electrical power is being produced by someone else burning fossil fuels, I don't see electric cars really helping us out too much other than that I'm not directly causing the pollution.

  4. Good question! Because if that car is fully electrionic it must have to get charged by an outlet, and that would probably be in your own garage, which I'm sure would add up top the same price as gas nowadays. If there was a fully electric car, which I'm sure there will be, then I bet the gvrnt would tax that **** just as much as they do with gas right now.

I probably wouldn't drive one, because it wouldn't do anuthing for my wallet.. However it would be REALLY great for the environment I just don't think(right now) I could drive one. I don't even know all the pros... I would love you to update me on all of them.

    thanks.

I hope my answer kicked ***!

  5. If they made batteries that work properly in Canada in the winter I would consider it.

  6. Unfortunately, there is almost nowhere in America you can find electric power to refuel.  What do you think, the government is just going to come around and install 10 power plugs in everyone's house?

Some people talk about "hybrids" to extend the range of an electric car beyond the batteries.  This would involve something that takes fuel like gasoline and generates electricity, also called a "generator".  But have you ever heard of that?  It's not like you can just walk into a Home Depot and buy one.

All sarcasm aside, you can see where it's no problem.

As far as the cost of electricity, lots of electric cars are already on the road -- ask them what they pay.  Most say 3 to 6 miles per kwh.   Assume 12 cents per kwh... that's 2 to 4 cents per mile.   Feel free to compare to $4.00/gal. gas.

  7. oh h**l yeah. I'd do anything for one of those. especially a Tesla Roadster. the batteries can get up to 200 miles to the charge now and do 135 mph, so that whole "impractical" scenario just doesn't hold water anymore.

no one drives 200 miles in a day, so thats gotta stop.

their also much less expensive and much even though they use electricity from fossil fuels, they operate at 90% efficiency as opposed to 25%

  8. Electric cars rule!!!

I'm going to be driving one around soon and it's going to plug in to either a 120 or 240 VAC outlet anywhere I can find one, like the one in my garage!  I don't drive that much each day, only about 30-40 miles so it makes sense for me and if I have to go on a long trip I'll either borrow a car, ride with people going my way or fly.

I've driven enough converted cars that I can tell you they perform as well if not better than gasoline powered cars but lack the range.  So you have to plug them in each night, big deal!  They're clean, they're quick and the cost per mile to operate is about one tenth the cost of a gas guzzler!

  9. Too few "refuel" opportunities to be practical.  Plus, what happens if you run it dry...you wait for a tow to a outlet then let it charge for a few hours.  Lame!

  10. Electric cars are awesome.  I already have a gas/electric hybrid (Prius) and an electric moped.  The first affordable fully electric highway speed EV is about to come out in July, too:

I've written a few wiki articles on the subject too:

    http://greenhome.huddler.com/wiki/are-al...

For the people who say there's nowhere to recharge them - um, hello?  You can recharge them anywhere with an electrical outlet.  The great part about EVs is that the infrastructure is already in place!
