I have been 3 times and it is my least favorite major city.  It lacks a cohesive culture.  The city in my experiences was made up of people from all over the country and world.  Most people I heard or talked to in the city did not even have a southern accent.  Many people were from the north and it did not take me long to find someone from NY like me.  Once you go outside of the city it was more like the south you think of.  Also, the traffic is horrible.  Even in the outskirts and surrounding suburbs.  We made a wrong turn (about 20 min) out of the city and it took us an hour to get a few miles to our destination.  And this was during the day not rush hour.  There is so much traffic that the intersections would stay filled with cars through out light cycles with everyone honking horns and almost getting into accidents.

I was on a trip to Washington to visit family and the plane made a stop to Atlanta midway there. It was summer and it was very hot. It seemed to me to be a very nice place. Then again I like the south lots of nice people there.
