What do you think of bank of America?

I'm currently with BBT. I'm getting tired of every time I put cash in the bank they put a hold on half of it. What do you think of Bank of America? Or what bank do you recommend? I'm 23 will be 24. I'm engaged to be married and we basically live paycheck to paycheck. I would like to get joint and seperate accounts. I would like an account where you don't have to keep a set limit in the account.

When they hold it, they are investing it. Then it takes 2 business days to get into your account, right? Yea the whole time, I always joke that the money is in the "air". But that's how they make money, they are an investing bank.

I would recommend community banks, like Golden One. Even though it's more inconvenient with atms and stuff, they are more people-oriented, they donate more to your local community, they have lower apr's!

i have bank of america and i am satisfied. anytime i have a problem i talk to them and they figure out a way to alleviate it. i am about the same age as you and have been using them since i was 17. threatening to go to wells fargo across the street has gotten them on point a couple times. and now that i have a real job i try and speak with the same banker so we have a more personal relationship. good luck with everything

Banks cannot put a hold a cash.  I would take that complaint to the manager.

Ive had checking, savings, credit cards, and loan accounts with Bank of America for about 6 years now and Ive never had a problem that wasnt ressolved. If you have direct deposit, then you are set with a free checking account for basically the rest of your life. Just make sure to keep track of your spending so you wont incur any fees. Most of the people you hear complaining about banks are those that cannot keep track of their finances/expenditures and then complain about fees they are charged.

About the cash incident at the ATM... Im sure the money was in your account, however, due to a lot of fraud with people "cash jamming" ATM machines, most banks will not let you withdraw a large amount of money right away.

Bank of America is great. I'm a 19 year old college student and have had my BoA account since I started my first job in high school. Never had a single problem...has a great "Keep the Change" program that helps you put money gradually into savings and makes it easier to balance your checkbook...have a great online banking program, my parents have been with them for over 20 years and we've had no problems!

I  HATE BANK OF AMERICA!  I don't have a checking account with them, but do have a credit card.  I sent in a payment that was a little late, and they called and harassed me for a week and a half, even on friday, saturday, and sunday.  They stopped on Monday, but I know that they received payment on Friday, because it was withdrawn on Friday. I told them repeatedly that I had mailed the payment in, but they continued to call, and DEMAND a phone payment.  I called them on monday, to complain about their actions,  and they subsequently barred me from calling their call center.

We have been banking with BoA for thirty years now with no problem but when we put in a check unless we have enough cash in the acct  they will not credit the acct until the check cleares I think every bank has that practice but with cash this shouldn't apply.
