What do you think of communism?

Just asking for some opinions.

I believe that it's a great idea in theory, but human's are too flawed to be able to make it successful, as demonstrated by Russia and all of its satellites in the last century.

And what if we were able to make it successful and prevent corruption, then do you believe it would be better than capitalism?

Capitalism isn't invincible either. Free market economies crash and burn too.

  1. A great idea in theory?  If it doesn't work in reality then it isn't a good idea in theory.

Humans are too flawed?  Does communism now have it's version of original sin?  Is communism really just a cult religion?

Were that communism could exist in some nether world without human intervention, no it still wouldn't work as well as free market capitalism.  The problem is information.

Each of us is served by the labor of hundreds of thousands of people, we in turn serve the needs of a few people up to the needs of millions of people.  How can we possibly coordinate that through central planning?  The answer is we can't.  That's why the price mechanism is vital to an economy.  Communism essentially destroys this vital part.

Free market economies do go through their turmoils, what you often find is the interference of non free market forces.  Currency manipulation being a major one.

Communism is a miserable disaster.  It is the compiled lies of one half-mad failure of a man.  His was never a blueprint for a better world, it was always a guide for criminal minds to seize and loot a country.

  2. Bad idea. You really need to have a better understanding of it. It's sole purpose was to create a classless society, by getting rid of the rich thereby freeing the poor from tyranny. But all manufacturing transportation, communications and agriculture, etc, are owned by the government. So there is greed and corruption, but it is controlled by a few. Under Stalin, it caused the murder of 40 million people for " the good of the state" Humans are not too flawed to make it successful, humans are too intelligent to let it happen again. While free market economies have crashed and burned ( I assume you mean a market correction or recession), they have always bounced back, and always will, as long as we keep the socialists out of office.

  4. The problem with communism is that for it to work, we must surrender almost all our rights to the organization it takes to run such a system.

  5. CAPITALISM IS FAR FROM BEING PERFECT BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE FOUND NO OTHER ECONOMIC SYSTEM BETTER THAN IT.

  6. you can't take a corrupt form of government and make it not be corrupt. it has failed in every where it is used.

  7. communism did not work and will never work. It is not even great in theory, because it kills the American Dream ( if that still exists)  and kills opportunity. It stops innovation and does not give incentive to work. People are inherently greedy, myself included. i want to reap the rewards of my work and communism does not do that. communism says "from all according to ability, to all according to need" and that will not satisfy human greed. I am happy to live in a capitalistic society, where I can be what I want to be, and reap the rewards of my work.

Progressive Taxation is UnAmerican and unfair. FlatTax or FairTax should be adopted for real fairness. The top 50% of earners pay 97% of the taxes while the bottom pays 3%, and they get the benefit from government programs, too. The free market is a good thing, and I hate hearing the socialist talk of some politicians (*cough..Obama...*cough). Communism is not a good thing, and be happy that we live in a Democracy.

  8. Ask George Bush. He's the expert.

  9. My  1st    thought  was  nice  in  theory  but

Not  viable   due  to  ,  toooo  many  human  jerks .

But  asking  if  you can  make  it  successful   means  you  would  have  to

somehow  eliminate   a  huge   segment  of  the  population .

Given  that  impossibility ,   the  rest  is  a   futile  "what  if"  fantasy .

Maybe   better  to  go  with  " what  if  I  won  the  big  lottery ?" .

No  point  in   wondering / wishing  for  water  from the  moon .

And  you   are  correct  in  there  are  no  perfect  systems .

All   we  can  do  is  encourage  people  to  live  honorably

and  hope  the  jerks  stop  breeding .

  10. its great.

  11. Communism is a horrible way to lead. With everything controlled people are forced to surrender their freedoms. Free market economists may crash but at the same time others succeed but with commies everyone falls at the same time. And that is not what is meant by equality.

  12. Interesting idea, but its morally wrong to redistribute wealth. Also the theory never translates into reality. Everyone winds up miserable and without rights. If anyone actually supports communism, I have a message for: I understand that you want to be unique and want to help those less-fortunate, but the system just doesn't work.

  13. Suggestion perhaps a system where each trade person from artist to Zamboni driver had their own currency to exchance with that of other trades people . Currency made through computer graphics. Then the idea that Zamboni drivers as in those who fix ice at hockey rinks exchange their currency with that of say construction workers which would have naturally images of construction workers to reflect designs. Also could finance bicycle type streets as oppossed to car streets. This may work better than Communism as in addition the idea would be for volunteers for repair and a system of what suits the individual.

  14. It's dead, not even China has true Communism any more

  15. Communism is alive and well in America; some very highly placed individuals even admit to be communists. One political party has many people in leadership that are Communists. We are in trouble and I think Communism is the problem.
