I don't think that they are bad people or mental people.You just have to understand them on their level.I think a lot of people misunderstand cutters.Cutting isn't at all good.I used to cut and still do have temptations to do it again.Cutting is a false sense of relief and pleasure because after you do it then you get the aftermath.You worry about infection getting into the scars,you worry about people finding out,you worry about what people will think of you,you worry about getting sent to an institution,and you worry about where it will lead.There's a lot of things that come after cutting that a lot of people don't think of.I think it is wrong that people condemn cutters when they should be comforting them.You have to put yourself in the shoes of the cutter and imagine what they are going through.A lot of cutters come from traumatic backgrounds.Some do not.You really have to set down and talk to a cutter to understand them.Do not judge them right off,that's the wrong approach. Cutting is not ever the solution to any problem.It only makes things worse.I don't promote cutting but I think condemning cutters is bad.So just comfort them.May GOD BLESS you!

Depends on why they do it, but generally I think poorly of them. Cutting is illogical and pointless. They are even trying to commit suicide, I don't understand. Unless we are talking about the ones who do it to commit suicide. That is different and once again depends on why. Sorry, I can't answer your question very well, you haven't given enough details really...

I feel sorry that people cut because I understand that it is a disorder and it is not easy for them to stop.

People who think "poorly" of those who self-injure, need some education. These people have an illness, like any other. Many of these people have a disorder called Borderline Personality Disorder. Read up on it and see why they may self-injure.

People who do this have severe emotional pain, though it does not seem to make sense, causing injury relieves some of that pain, for a short while. Even those with severe physical pain often say, "I'd do anything to get rid of this pain!" And often they do, over medicate, drink, anything that helps for a while, to a person in pain whether physical, or emotional a temporary solution is a shining beam of light.

To the poster who thinks poorly of them, please don't become become a doctor!

The only thing I think about people who self-injure is that I hope they get help.-it's available.

People who injure themselves have been around since Biblical times, this is not a new problem.

Well 4 me a cut myself 4 like half of my life, and when u start cuttin yourself u don't stop, i mean like u can but it will take a long 2 get over it.......i know tht i don't know u but don't make the wrong chose and cut, make the right one and cut yourself......and when u do cut yourself u will hurt more people than u think..........just make the right chose and don't cut yourself.........

it eases the pain its betta than smokin in my cases. i'll need my brain cells 4 memoryin things but smokin noo biggie.
