  1. It is just plain stupid.

  2. in certain circumstances I agree it is a good thing.

Most people think it is a free license for a diplomat to act badly overseas and that is furthest from the truth.  if you are acting bad and being obnoxious you'll be sent home, diplomatic immunity or not.

  3. I think it's a necessary evil.

  4. Diplomatic immunity is a critical mechanism to ensure that a country is able to best fulfill its diplomatic role overseas.  While it may be abused, it is still necessary to maintain.  There are sufficient safeguards in place to deal with the more egregious situations.

  5. on a very small scale it's necessary but diplomats and their staff are only humans so they have the same bad manners and habits like the average

and I think that using diplomatic immunity to avoid payment obligation for tickets, to transport drugs etc is just an abuse that should be eliminated immediately

  6. I think it's a way of saying we allow foreigners to muck up around here but if you are an actual citizen you can't do the same.

  7. It should be waived in certain circumstances.  I had a girlfriend that was beat up by a foreign diplomat's son.  The son had immunity, he was removed from the US without being charged with anything.
