What do you think of england??

Question

as above what do you like about the UK? or do you see england as an overpriced, overtaxed country on the downhill (thanks to mr g brown)?? Thanks

well i dont personally know about your politics (im american sorry dont be hating) but i love england, the culture, fish and chips, the landscape, the partying, the history, and i really like english boys so yeah i love the UK. i actually found cheaper shopping and living expenses in the UK then in europe so no as expensive as i expected

As an American living in England, I have several opinions of not only this country but the entire commonwealth as a whole.

When people move to a country, they should abide and understand their laws.  I do not understand how someone can move from their country to a new one and try to impose on those their laws. (ie Shirah Law).

The bus system that I have used is fantastic.  

The take out is appalling though.  I love fish and chips but I am not a fan of curry.  And the pizza here is just not up to par.  Where as in America there are so many choices.  

Same with shopping for groceries.  There are so many more choices in the states.  But then that can also be a downfall as well.

I think most people you meet here in England are very friendly.   There have been very few exceptions to that rule.

The history astounds me.  Everywhere you go there is so many different types of ruins/sites places to go, places to see.  I truly love history and seeing the roman, saxon, celtic viking and even different ages (ie medieval dark age etc).  It just astounds me.  

The countryside is absolutely breath taking in places.  How you can take it for granted I will never know.  Every hill, every corner there is something spectacular if you just look.  Even your cities have buildings that take my breath away.  

Sometime, just look at the older buildings in your area.  Carvings and structure.  

I love it.

I cannot get over the taxes though.  Once more that takes my breath away!  You get taxed on the tax for petrol?  How can the government find that legal?

House prices and wage rates, I am amazed that there are not more people living on the streets.  The cost of living is extremely high, and the peoples are not compensated enough.  I do not believe in government handouts.  But I do believe in a better quality of life.

All in all, I do love it here.  

I really do.  

But the cost of living is shocking.
