  1. evil is kick *** XD

  2. "Evil" was made up. The only thing that can be evil is man. There's no h**l. There's only positive energy to be tapped into out there.

  3. I think SOME things can be agreed on as evil.

For instance, rape is evil, genocide is evil, etc...

Most things, however, it is decided by personal standards.

  4. Evil like good is not subjective. There must be something to compare to. What one finds evil, another may not. But that's justification.

  5. Evil is the absence of good.

  6. honestly no one will give you a straight answer on here.  Mostly stuff like Stalin and Hitler.  It is never a good argument for how g**s are evil, or cheating on your husband is evil.

  7. Personal standards based on our impression[s] from youth.Be it Religious standards, parental standards or cultural standards.

  8. Do you have a private or secret language?

When you speak, people understand you.

When you act, you communicate as well -- if you are a good person or not.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind.

    God love you!

  9. It is set by God's Holy Standard

    His Law

We have all broke His Holy Law and He will one day punish us in h**l.

We have all probably lied, stole, used His name in vain, dishonored our parents, never kept God first, etc.

We will all have to face His courtroom.

But He sent Jesus Christ to pay the fine for our sins and breaking of the Law. Just like if you were in a court room. He paid our fine and we are to go. But there are some things we must do: Repent (Turn away) of those sins and never turn back to them, and Trust that Jesus did what He did and have a relationship with Him. That is all.

    Revelation 21:8

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

    Matthew 5:22

But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother[will be liable to judgment; whoever insultshis brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the h**l of fire.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

    Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

    Acts 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19 (Show me Acts 3)

Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out

    Acts 8:22

Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.

    Acts 17:30

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

    Acts 11:18

When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

  10. Heidegger's epistemological teachings allowed for no morality.  He consequently had no problems with his n**i officership.  This is the problem with personal standards.

  11. Unfortunately we are exposed to evil everyday, that is why we need to read our bibles and pray.

  12. It is relative.

I really enjoyed the Nightwatch books (the basis for the movie). They explored evil relative to the individual very well.

  13. it is relative

  14. It doesn't exist.

  15. Evil is all about intent. If your intent is to maliciously inflict harm on anyone (including yourself) in any way (emotionally or physically), then this is evil. Good is just the same.

Both evil and good sit on opposite ends of a scale.

  16. It is set by neither a relativism, universal, or personal standards.

We have an inherit knowledge of evil. Even the thief knows it's wrong to steal. Why? Try stealing from him. So if it is subjectional/relative,  then why would he be upset if I took my stuff back plus some?

Illusion is a really weak argument for someone to make. Taking the example from above, then stealing is neither here nor there and there wouldn't be any consequences. And you would also get into the problem of why do we have laws and punishment because that is an illusion. The founder of the cult Christian Science was asked while eating a piece of cake; "If someone came in and shot you in the head, what would you do?" Mrs. Eddie answered: "I would just go on eating my cake." Well whose saying the cake isn't an illusion. Too many problem with that argument.

Evil is an objectionable truth because of the law of causality. We create laws based upon inherently knowing what is good and what is evil. An example of this is what is called the yuck factor. Say a man goes out and rapes a two year old child. Do we say it O.K. for him because evil is relative? NO! We think; let string that blank so and so up!

This can seem like some complicated issue but it's not.

I have done my best to explain this without religious tones, it's hard to.

I will leave you with Aristotle who believe that what we have here on earth, that is what we have made, is not perfect. That somewhere out there exist the perfect whatever. So if there is a perfect morality then the opposite of that is evil. We just attempt to follow the perfect morality.

  17. I suppose the closest thing to something being "evil" would be subjective as well as personal.

Some people perceive certain actions as "evil" or  "sinful", while others do not.

I think it may also be cultural as well.

Evil as well as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

At one time, "dancing" was perceived to be sinful and evil, the act of dancing or wanting to dance was perceived as works of the Devil.

In my humble opinion, it is ridiculous to blame something or someone else for your lack of wisdom or fortitude in attaining your personal goals or happiness.

  18. >>Let me narrow this down... is it objectional, subjectional,

    >>or just an illusion?

I think it's ultimately subjective, but still a mix of biological drives, what society establishes, and to the least extent personal standards.  Slavery, for example, wasn't considered "evil" 300 years ago.

Like all animals, we have biological drive for self-preservation.  But being primates and thus social animals, we also have drives for protection of the immediate family, and a drive for protection of the environment and surroundings.  Most things dubbed as "evil" are acts that conflct with one of these biological principles.

  19. Personal standards.  For instance, in the Middle East, women are for making babies only while men are for pleasure.  No so in other parts of the world, because the Christians would crucify all of them.

  20. It's universal.

  21. Set by cultural standards.

  22. The Bible says this "stupid and senseless evil."  I agree with that.  Evil is worthless.  That's why God doesn't allow it in Heaven.

  23. it's great with peanut butter .....HMMMM HMMMM

  24. No such thing.

  25. Nothing is evil.  There is no universal moral code.

We can only base right and wrong on our own knowledge and experiences.
