  1. What's going on now is a natural warming cycle.  All the indicators of it being so are there, they've been pointed out over and over, but some people use the global warming issue for their own ends.

The current man-made climate change/global warming issue was started in part by a serious and legitimte concern for localized pollution, which began in earnest in the 1960's.  At that time lakes and streams were being destroyed by industrial waste.  Air quality was growing worse with no end in sight.  The famous L.A. smog reached its peak around that time.

Steps were taken to clean things up, and the cleanup was successful.  For example, the Great Lakes were virtually dead by 1970, but anti-pollution efforts brought them back to viability.  Same thing with air quality.

However, the environmentalists of that day grew into political activists of today.  If the "green" movement could be successful in shutting down the manufacturers of carbon producing things - cars, and you-name-it whatever else - could be forced to curb their "carbon footprint," they could potentially be put out of business.  Or, at least severely limited, whereby the economy could come under control of the government.

Therein lies the crux of the modern day environmentalist's eneregy; they are socialists and have politics driving their agenda.  They are fanatics who will not listen to anything disagreeing with their beliefs, and who condemn and demonize those who don't accept that the debate is over, global warming is man-made and we're doomed before the next generation arrives.

It is harum-scarum baloney, and the more angry and unreasonable the threatening becomes, the more you know those people are trying to replace freedom of choice to live as you want (i.e. make as much money as you care to), and replace it with big government socialism that has a collectivist, redistributionist system.

  2. IF I TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IT MEANS WHAT I SAY IS REALLY REALLY TRUE EVEN THOUGH I SHOW I HAVE A THIRD GRADE EDUCATION LEVEL....DON'T WORRY LITTLE GIRL, THE POLAR BEARS AND HUMANS WILL BE OK, NO ONE IS TAKING SOUTH POLE ICE TO LAKE MEADE AND WE CAN DESALINATE OCEAN WATER LIKE THEY DO IN SAUDI ARABIA IF WE NEED TO.

  3. All Scientists agree Global warming is factual and real!

  4. This is going to sound way out there because no one has said it befor.global warming is not changeable,it is a means to an end ,long ago a great Battle ensued on this planet and a powerful being and his army were captured below miles of ice,

and it is by influence that our whole technological civilization is led to melt this ice  that is keeping them imprisoned ,they will escape and there is nothing we can do about it so we shouldn't worry about it.

  5. I think it's a natural cycle that we're only partly responsible for.

However I think whatever gets people to start living more environmentally friendly, scam or not, is a good idea.

  6. It doesn't really seem to be a real deal here where I live right now. But I used to live somewhere around the equator, south east asia, and I did seem happening when I was there a couple months ago. My small town getting warmer, I used to be able to see my breath in the morning but not anymore. We need to have an air conditioner while those kind of things were no more than just jokes before, not to mention the natural disasters that happen almost every week. The sad thing is people don't really care about that, they keep throwing trash on the street, cutting the trees, using power excessively. Just makes me feel bad.

  7. Our Government new about this problem 40 years ago...why are they all of a sudden worried and why didn't they do something back then???????Its all about profit......

  8. There are many basic scientific facts which can only be explained if the current global warming is being caused by an increased greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide accumulating in the atmosphere from humans burning fossil fuels.

For example, the planet is warming as much or more during the night than day.  If the warming were due to the Sun, the planet should warm a lot more during the day when the Sun has influence.  Greenhouse gases trap heat all the time, so they warm the planet regardless of time of day.  Another example is that the upper atmosphere is cooling because the greenhouse gases trap the heat in the lower atmosphere.  If warming were due to the Sun, it would be warming all layers of the atmosphere.

We know it's warming, and we've measured how much:

    http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science...

Scientists have a good idea how the Sun and the Earth's natural cycles and volcanoes and all those natural effects change the global climate, so they've gone back and checked to see if they could be responsible for the current global warming.  What they found is:

Over the past 30 years, all solar effects on the global climate have been in the direction of (slight) cooling, not warming.  This is during a very rapid period of global warming.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/62902...

    http://www.pubs.royalsoc.ac.uk/media/pro...

So the Sun certainly isn't a large factor in the current warming.  They've also looked at natural cycles, and found that we should be in the middle of a cooling period right now.

"An often-cited 1980 study by Imbrie and Imbrie determined that 'Ignoring anthropogenic and other possible sources of variation acting at frequencies higher than one cycle per 19,000 years, this model predicts that the long-term cooling trend which began some 6,000 years ago will continue for the next 23,000 years.'"

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/ab...

So it's definitely not the Earth's natural cycles.  They looked at volcanoes, and found that

    a) volcanoes cause more global cooling than warming, because the particles they emit block sunlight

    b) humans emit over 150 times more CO2 than volcanoes annually

    http://volcano.und.edu/vwdocs/Gases/man....

So it's certainly not due to volcanoes.  Then they looked at human greenhouse gas emissions.  We know how much atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased over the past 50 years:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mauna...

And we know from isotope ratios that this increase is due entirely to human emissions from burning fossil fuels.  We know how much of a greenhouse effect these gases like carbon dioxide have, and the increase we've seen is enough to have caused almost all of the warming we've seen over the past 30 years (about 80-90%).  You can see a model of the various factors over the past century here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Clima...

This is enough evidence to convince almost all climate scientists that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

  9. I think that global warming (climate change) is a real issue that should be a concern to us all now and is only going to get worse, rapidly.

However, I think that people are getting confused by the expanding population, the planets inability to support us, the wiping out of the fish stock, the extinction of flora and fauna, coral bleaching, expanding desert, arctic ice melting, third world debt, poverty and starvation, illeagal logging, multi drug resistant TB, and all the other issues facing humanity and then pushing them all together and labeling it as "global warming". Some of these issues are a result of climate change and some are the result of 6.5 billion people destroying the environment.

And then they see the problem as to big to start fixing, so, therefore there is no point to do anything about it as no one else is, etc. However all these issues can be broken down and we ,collectively, could go someway to solving them. However, unfortunately, we are human and historically, when ever there has been a time to band together for the good of all, we have choose to bomb, kill, invade, and attack and take what ever we wanted from are neighbors. *Sigh*.

  10. rubbish...earth cycles..it will go away

  11. All for global warming!  It's a natural phenomenon.  The Earth and it's natural resources only need to last about 60 more years (enough to get me through the rest of my natural life).

  12. i think its caused by humans-- i mean we us some many products and the ozone layer is getting smaller and smaller and just keeps getting smaller, id hate to wait around to see if its a natural cause, when Antarctica and other places are slowly dying away and all the animals too

  13. HECK YEA GLOBAL WARMING IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!! AND DO U WANT TO KNOW SOMETHING? WELL, GUESS WHAT? IF WE DO NOT STOP GLOBAL WARMING RIGHT THIS INSTANT, THEN NOT ONLY ARE POLAR BEARS GOING TO BECOME EXTINCT, BUT WE ARE GOING TO DIE!!!! DID U KNOW THAT WE COULD ALSO USE WATER FROM THE SOUTH POLE IF THERE IS NOT MUCH WATER IN LAKE MEAD? WHY IS THIS BAD? WELL, BECAUSE SINCE WE USE THAT WATER TOO, AND THE SUN IS MELTING IT, THEN ALL THAT BEAUTIFUL WATER-GOES TO THE OCEAN! CAN WE DRINK OCEAN WATER? NOOOO! AND EVEN IF WE PUT THE OCEAN WATER IN A MACHINE AND DESALT IT, THEN THE MACHINE BREAKS DOWN RIGHT AFTER THAT. MEANING WE ARE GOING TO DIE OF THIRST!

  14. i think its caused by people. and i think that is real. its incredibly scary! LOL!

  15. Real, mostly caused by us.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

    summarized at:

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

    http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/a...

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_...

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu...

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know...  Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point.  You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

  16. we need to take action to this monster we call global warming.  im tired of the republican party hiding behind it, saying it's all bull, or its barely true.

lets fight behind our man al gore and get this finished!

  17. It s a very big topic which each and every person should deal, we have a come around the world and should take necessary steps to minimize the global warming, else it is sure that one day all the land will come under water

  18. Nobody REALLY knows.  We don't have enough data.  Every study that shows one trend can be contradicted by another study that shows the opposite trend.  Currently, its getting warmer, but anybody who tells you that they know the state of the climate in 2100 is full of himself or full of c**p.

The real question is do you want to live in a clean world or a dirty one?  If you want to live in a clean world, do something about it.

  19. Global Warming is true, there are Natural fazes but we are affecting that to a great extent ,with deforestation ,desertification and pollution., especially air pollution.

A few weeks ago one of NASA's top scientists concluded that the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free within five years, much faster than all previous predictions.

when the north pole is gone , you may have polar bears soon in America ,looking for a home ,

Calculations do not include the accumulative ,speeding up ,factor with time. the increase in water temperature will get faster all the time as well as the melting, when the ice is all gone the deeper cold Ocean currents will stop ,and the drag has gone with it ,also changing the higher warm currents,And only the moon will keep things moving

This will affect coastal climates ,world wide ,almost instantly. All aquatic flora and fauna will be affected, many dying off and others becoming invasive,

And recently In Chiapas ,and Tabasco in Mexico .more then a million people became homeless overnight with water coming up to their roofs ,because of rains from super evaporation from the forests, this had never happened before. Millions of animals died.

In India 3000 people died because of super storms .

.A few years ago in Europe 3500 people, died during a heat wave ,many of them in France .

Right now the average death toll annually is 150.000 due to Global warming

. these figures are already out of date and are expected to double soon.

In Northern China millions of people are running for their lives because regular dust storms so far have buried 900 villages under the sand and the whole of northern China is turning into a dessert.

The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year all around the edges ,like a slow burning fire shriveling up their neighbors In the Kalahari huge rivers have dried up and thousand of species are gone due to their habitats disappearing .

The biggest changes are invisible at micro biotic levels species are becoming extinct ,others are multiplying ,

This affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that ,affect all that follows in the food chains ,

All life is interrelated of both flora and fauna, And since we are on the top of the food chain ,

we are always the last to know.

So Global warming has its toll there are incidents all over the world ,

    However

confusion rules the day ,i am beginning to think that SCIENCE HAS BEEN INVADED WITH POLITICS AND HUMAN EMOTIONS

The truth is being distorted at high levels,

And lies have been weaved in.

Some of the real dangers are being hidden because there are no solutions , Public could panic.and Authorities would loose control .

Besides Corporations have other priorities and changes will cause loss of profits ,this also affects the truths being published

Others facts are exaggerated so that the phenomena can be used to milk the people.

This is further complicated with Arrogance that will not admit that mankind could be guilty, or that Gods could be out of control ,unloving or incompetent

But I do not think we can make a real difference anymore to change the tide.

On a Global scale,Humanity is not co operative enough .

The poor regions have other priorities such as daily survival.

There is a lot we can do about being more responsible with what we got ,

In the first world countries many do not care or are more interested in Global Control than Global Warming.
