The people making this suggestion must be very poorly educated people themselves. They should ask themselves why do they need to carry a gun. You cannot have a gunfight where nobody is killed, unless all the shooters are blind, even then somebody is going to get lucky and actually hit. Hi kids, I've got a gun and i'm gonna shoot ya all, ya got a cottonpickin' minute to get your shooters loaded.

Gun-free zones are unsafe because nuts bring guns in and no one can defend themselves.  But children shouldn't be given guns.  Let the staff have guns or at least access to a gun or two so incidents like the ones happening in colleges all over the country wouldn't end with so many dying needlessly.

The end of the overpopulation problem.  Look at what they'll save on school lunches.  But the arguments over who gets the brass. The carpenters union voted yes. Big layoff at the bus company. Little problem with deafness. I'll have to alert the fashionistas on 7th Av. China will come out with pink .22 Autos w/ cell and MP3. Mink holsters look like a good investment

do u mean the college students because they are adults u are an adult after u are 18 years old, it's ok for them to join the military at that age and be handed a gun to protect your freedom but if they want one at school to protect themselves from loonies omg what terrible horrors would come from everyone being equally armed. the old west ran alot more efficiently than we do now and back then everyone was packin'!

Kids in school shouldn't have guns.  Adults in school is another matter altogether.  I think college students are old enough to understand how serious pulling a trigger is, while second graders are not.

By the way--do you go to a school where there are fistfights every day?  Every kid brings a pair of fists to school.

I know of no responsible gun owner advocating such a thing. What they are suggesting is that licensed (Right To Carry) faculty members have the right to defend the school. Also the right to at least have their weapons in their autos on campus. A "Gun Free Zone" is an open invitation to potential disaster.
