What do you think of guns for recreation?

im a clay target shooter and im SO sick of people disregarding our sport and saying that guns are oh so dangerous. more people get killed by cars, or sharks or other c**p like that. what do you think? is there anyone out there that agrees with me?

Guns have provided me with countless hours of safe, wholesome recreation during the last 1/3 of a century. They taught me absolute personal responsibility as well. I'm a much better person for my firearms knowlege and experience. I wouldn't trade those countless hours for anything.

I agree with you. I have spent many hours on the skeet field, and although my shooting interests lay in different aspects of the sport, I still shoot some kind of gun at least once a week.

Agree 100%  guns for recreation are just fine.For hunting and self defense too.This country was won with guns.Our freedom and independence rests with our guns.I have shot skeet and paper targets and learned a lot about weapon safety and gained a great deal of respect for guns.

Totally agree.

They are uninformed, &just plain biased against shooting sports & guns in general

Shooting clays especially is a bloodless skill sport,

I think you should p**s them off even more by telling them that the bacteria that live in clay birds can feel pain & die a horrible death when you "smoke " one.

Has to be more than a few anti gun types that think nothing of having  coctails & driving a car while yakking on a cellphone.

Applying that logic, might as well ban cars,  cellphones & booze.

As with just about anything, a firearm in the hands of an untrained person, a drunk, or just an idiot is certainly dangerous.

In the hands of a responsible person though, a firearm is only as dangerous as that person wants it to be at the time. Shooting clays is a great sport and requires quick reflexes and a steady swing of the shotgun.

It has been many year since I shot clays and that was off the fantail of a ship I was stationed aboard in the Navy. Once I got to dry land and tried it where there wasn't any rise of the ocean swells, I couldn't hit a thing! I only got 13 out of 25!

guns for recreation is ok as long as you don't use it for hunting poor innocent animals.
