Here's the scenario: Me and this guy are hanging out, and theres a noise in my house. He wants me to go check. And nothing happened. First off, I'm all about equal rights. But this is something, that's just not right to me. Shouldn't the guy be brave and check? I would think it would be instinctive for guys. They are physically stronger. Wouldn't they feel better themselves by doing this? I asked 2 different guys about this. One guy said he would go check, another guy told me its stupid for him to go check and that "back then women always had to listen to guys and he can make her go check" ? I think he thinks that, anglo saxon heros is a story they tell you in school to make guys think they should be the brave ones. What does everyone else think?

  1. coward...

  2. I believe that men should protect women. Men that don't are not men and are either a coward or are lacking manner. Just as you said, men are physically bigger built than women are and I like to know that a man can protect me in any situation whatsoever. If he can't, then it makes me second guess whether or not that man may love me enough or if he's the woman. It's usually stereotypical for a guy to be Mr. Macho and a girl to be a diva-in-distress, but isn't this type of mannerism deeply rooted in our upbringing and culture? We ditch our maiden names to replace it with our husband's surname. There's still male dominance in that, so why not physically too?

  3. To me equal rights does not mean chivalry should be dead.

    Men are still men and women are still women. We are very different in many ways not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

    I still open the doors for my wife, if I am able. She opens her own door just fine and does so on occasion if I was busy with some other task (I.E loading grocery in the trunk or have hands full). I still pull out the chair, if it is not fastened =)

    I think He should have taken the initiative to check it out. Men who don't, are not Men, just Male.

  4. Well, there are 2 schools of thought on this;

    First one says, you wanted equality, you got equality, so having to go check is just part of the downside.

    The second one says, we've had feminism for about a hundred years and "protect the women and children first" for about 2 million years.  It's hard to argue with something that's worked for that long.

    In a potentially dangerous situation, I'm with the second school - men are better designed in case a physical response is needed.

    Or, you could have all gone.  Three against one is better odds.

  5. as long as im not the one gettin hacked to pieces when the noise turns out to be an axe wielding psycho

    you go check yourself
