Question:

What do you think of my Dentist?

I am a senior citizen, and I was told by my Dentist that the upper remaining 6 natural teeth have to come out and put in a denture. I asked about implants, and he said I would have to go with only four posts or implants into the bone in the front because there isn't enough of bone in the rear where I lost those teeth years ago.

He said I would have to use a denture for 5-6 months while the implants heal, so far I was OK with that.

Then I asked how much, he said $12,583.00 made of a hard plastic material (he said what it was I don't remember) Then I asked for the same job what would it cost if you used Porcelin teeth instead, he said $25,000.00.

I can't afford that much money so I left the office depressed, and confused, and I told him I'd let him know because I don't have that kind of cash for this, and if I do this I would have to get a loan.

Now for my question.....Does anyone know if porcelain would cost double the original cost, or is this Outrageous??

  1. Dental stuff is expensive, ask if he included insurance with that.

  2. I think that your dentist want to get money.to make sure that it cost that much, go to other dentist and ask about the cost, if the cost is around that much, I think U should do what your dentist said. find other job that will pay u more that the usual job, or find an extra job to get the money

  3. Maybe look up a local university. They normally have students that will "practice" on you at a very discounted price. They are trained and I am sure they have supervisors. Also, maybe try calling around or going to a different dentist to see what they quote you with.

  4. No problems with your dentist but if you are conscious about the cost you may consider forgetting about implants and get yourself regular dentures that should cost $1,200 if it is possible.

  5. Sadly porcelain does cost more. It is a strong product and are a great replacement for natural teeth. I had one dental implant and it cost $4500, so the amount your dentist quoted you sounds like what the "going rate is". I don't know where you live but if there is a dental school in your area it would be worth looking into to contact them and see if they provide this kind of dental work and if they possibly charge a lower amount and with financing. Good luck on your dental work.
