  1. Sorry but I feel SOO bad for your kid. I hate most of those names. Seriously who wants to be named Gwendolyn or Mabel or Fransisca? No one. But if i have to choose one it would be Melanie. Its cute girly and the poor kid wont get made fun of at school

  2. your right, so many of these names are timeless!

I decided today that when I have a baby girl, I'll name her Charlotte : )

I'm not much of a fan of Clementine or Opal, but the others are beautiful!  My great-grandmother was named Hazel, and I love it.

And I just named my new puppy Ramona.

Too bad you probably wont have enough kids to use them all! lol.

  3. I think Isabeau is my least favorite female name in the world (next to peyton, and nevaeh)

Look in the dictionary for the meaning of 'Beau' and tell me its feminine?

Most of the others are pretty nice.

I grew up in  Menorca Spain, and went to secondary school in France. BEAU is the male noun for beautiful, or handsome -It may have been adapted into a name used for females, but part of the name to me is associated with what I grew up to use for being masculine. Just as unisex names would be here in the US for you (and me now). Either way I will lose this argument because you asked the question - but what you associate as masculine, and what I do (or anyone else for that matter) aren't necessarily the same thing.

  4. honestly the only one that I like is Charlotte

  5. I like the name Charlotte.

I agree that Isabeau is an ugly name. My sister is naming my neice  this when she is born in Dec. because of the movie Nighthawks I believe thats the movie - edit: Ladyhawke*. I also saw it on the biggest loser  show. I really hope my sister changes her mind.

  6. I like Ruby and Clair

  7. I love Rose, Melody and Abigail as well as Victoria and Claire. Rose is my middle daughter's and my granddaughter's middle name and Victoria is my oldest daughter's middle name.

Could I add a few you may like, but didn't think of/include?

Lydia..... happens to be MY old-fashioned name! (Lydia Theresa)

Sara...... my 90 yr old mother's old-fashioned name! (Sara Charna)

Marcella...... my oldest daughter's old-fashioned name (Marcella Victoria)

Charna... my granddaughter's very old, Yiddish name (Charna Rose)

let me know what you think of these!

Claire: Still used today, and classic at the same time.

  11. I like:

    Abigail

    Felicity

    Charlotte

    Vivienne

    Claire

And I love Peyton for a girls name. It's not ugly.

  12. I love these names, especially Violet, Clementine, Claire, Ruby, Charlotte, Evangeline, Gwendolyn, Ramona, Felicity, Abigail, Melody, Rose, Alice, Celeste and Eloise. Some of them may be a bit uncommon or old-fashioned but they are exceptionally lovely.

Ones that are a bit too old fashioned are Ophelia, Winifred, Helene, Isolde, Edith, and Magdelena.

But really it all comes down to your taste and its up to you!

  13. Thank you so much for saying the same thing as I have been saying for years!!! I love old fashioned names. I hate to hear a child named a silly cutsy-poo child name. What kind of respect will that bring them when they are an adult? How do you keep a straight face when you have to call a 65 year old woman Jacey, or some other silly name? My favorites from your list are:

    Isabeau

    Celeste

    Cordelia

    Astrid

    Isolde

    Victoria

You are right on the money with these names!!!  :)

  14. Rose - I love this name; I'd seriously consider it for my own child.

Alice - I'm not too keen on it, but I know a girl named Alyce and the name truly suits her, and true enough, such a name never goes out of style and is very classy.

Isabeau - Hmm, not my taste.

    Magdalena - See above.

Celeste - Not too bad, but not one I'd contemplate for my child.

    Opal - Not my style.

    Francesca - See above.

Claudia - I use to love the name Claudia, and I know no-one with that name. It's feminine and classy - I love it!

    Edith - Not my style.

Eloise - Oh yes, this one is on my list for possible names for any daughter I may be blessed with.

Agatha - Not my style; reminds me of Agatha Christie.

Eleanora / Eliza - I truly like Eliza, but Eleanor is more my style.

Mabelle - Hehe, went through a stage when I loved this name so much but I outgrew it.

Melody / Melanie - Melody is so classy, but Melanie, IMO, sounds like a modern day version, and I much prefer the old-fashioned versions.

    Florence - Not my style.

Cleodora / Cordelia / Cecilia - Cordelia reminds me of Charisma Carpenter's character on 'Buffy', I'll admit it. Not my taste.

Astrid / Aster - I'm not a huge fan, but Astrid reminds me of my friend's baby niece, who is just the most adorable child.

Abigail - Another one of my list of possible names for a future duaghter.

Felicity - OMG, I just love Felicity - it's so timeless and classy.

    Beatriu - Not my taste.

    Margaux - See above.

Isolde / Isla / Ivy / Iris - Isla, yes, I like it, but not so much the other three.

Naomi / Nadine / Norma / Norah - Not my style.

    Vera - See above.

    Terese - See above.

Helene - So my style, but I don't mind Helena, although I wouldn't contemplate it for my own child.

    Estelle - Not my taste.

    Ramona - See above.

    Gwendolyn - See above.

Victoria - Nice, nice, but not my favourite.

Charlotte - Second on my list for girls... Charlotte, just adore it!

Evangeline - Reminds me very much of Evangeline Lilly, but I must say I like the name.

Ophélie / Ophelia - Hmm, reminds me of 'Hamlet'. Not my style.

Ruby / Ruth - Ruby, yes, Ruth no.

Vivienne - Kind of liked it, until Brangelina decided to name their daughter it and cash in, BIG time on their birth (as if they aren't rich enough).

Claire - Nice, reminds me of one of my closest friends... I love that girl!

Josephine - Hmm, no, reminds me of a girl I use to know, and she wasn't so nice.

Hazel / Violet - Not my style.

Wilhelmina / Winifred - See above... Wilhelmina reminds me of 'Ugly Betty'.

    Clementine - Not my taste.
