What do you think of my gerbil cage?

It has 4 levels and i try to make it fun for them! the 2 cuties at the bottom decided to pose for the camera. I also have another gerbil, he's black, and hiding somewhere.

What do you think of it? Is there anything you think I should add? Any ideas?

Also, if you have any pictures of your gerbil, hamster, guinea pig, rabbit, rat, etc.... cage, i would love to see them if you could post them!

Thanks!

  1. Is there a wheel in there? I can't tell from the angle. Definitely get one if you don't have one, gerbils are very very very very energetic, as I'm sure you noticed. ;P They also need a bit more floor space than you've got there. But I like that you've got lots of things for them to entertain themselves with.

& the person saying you should get an aquarium is quite incorrect!

I don't have any gerbils, but I do have rats. ;P

I have 5 boys, and went a bit wild and got them the Ferret Nation 142 cage.

You can justtttt barely see Templeton at the top left, on top of the purple igloo. The other guys weren't in there yet.

  2. i think its big enough but you have to much stuff in there its big enough but the more stuff you have in the the less room they have to play.

  3. you should not have a wire cage get an aquarium

  4. there's no run-around room, and especially not enough for 3 gerbils. Very bad cage; not enough exercise. They don't even have a wheel to excercise to make up for, at least fractionally, for lack of exercise.

but I must appluad you on all the extras

I also heard that that cushiony fake bedding is bad for rodents.

  5. It is a little on the small side, I believe it should be the dimensions of the bottom should be atleast 24in X 24in. I wish I had pictures of my rat cage on here to show you! It is 2 feet wide, by 2 feet deep, by feet tall for two male ratties :)

Cute little furkids you have in there though! And I love the toys/houses.

Edit: Just want to add that wire cages are THE BEST cages for small animals as it allows for better ventilation!

  6. it is good that you supplied them with lots of things to play with and do,it's also well ventilated; but the cage is more tall than wide and for three gerbils there should be plenty of room for them to move and run around   you should check out your local pet stores for a bigger cage

  7. nice cage there plenty of levels for them to run up and down great though i prefer fish tanks but thats still good like it nice cage

  8. not the best cage for gerbils. wire floor hurts their feet. and they need tubes to roam around, gerbils are natural tunnelers. also i dont see a wheel. A wheel is essential. they NEED one. no matter how long they are out of the cage it doesnt compare to the hours of constant running on the wheel.

    heres my cage.

the wheel is external, on the other side. and there is a box because they kick their bedding all over the floor. and if you look close you can see moma in the top green thing. she is on top of seven babies.
