I'm 21 and I'm trying to get a job at DSW (the pay is great, and I love fashion). My current objective statement is, "Sales associate position in procurement where dedication and experience will add value to company." Is this a great objective statement? Or should I change or reword anything? Thanks!!

  1. I read more than 100 resumes a week. One thing I can't stand to see on them is an objective. If you're applying for a specific job, I get it, you want that job.

Objective statements on a resume are only of any value when you are shotgunning your resume to a bunch of companies for what ever position they may have open.  If you are applying to a specific job, just make sure that your resume, as a whole, is appealing for that particular job.  If you don't have a lot of work experience in the area that you are applying, Just write a cover letter to accompany the resume. It's much more professional, and you cam actually write in complete sentences.  Try to not to use "To Whom It May Concern" as the greeting. Show them that you are really interested in the job and actually find out who will be reviewing your resume. The salutation of the cover letter should be "Cordially yours" or "Best regards."

Anyway, dump the objective statement, it's so boring and annoying.
