What do you think of my parents?

Question

They let me stay on the computer as long as I want

My mom dosent care if I look at p**n

They let me swear; when i was like 6 my dad thought it was funny

They never punished me for detentions i had like over 100.

They let me watch R and play M games

They let me stay out till like 12 and i'm 14

My dad wants me to go to bed at 1 in the morning in summer

My mom wants me to stop swearing

Now they say their going to punish me for detentions

Your parents are way to lenient. At 14, you should have rules.  I hope when you grow up you are never my neighbor.

ok so you know your parents don't know how to parent.  But since you actually have the common sense to know if what you are doing ir right or wrong then I hold you accountable.  

It will be difficult to take responsibility for yourself and make a life out what you have been raised with but you sound very smart and I believe strongly you can do it!  

Stop testing your parents - you already have a theory that they can be predicatable and unpredictable.  Now you can stop that and focus your energy on your plan.  make small term and long term goals to accomplish just because you want to and are ready to move on from the unfortunate fact of poor parenting.

seems like ineffective parenting, you want to have some boundries with your kids.. you may like them alot - but you probably dont repect them, and what i mean by that, is if they tell you tel be in by 9 tomorrow, will you listen, or ignore them?

your first priority as a parent is not to make your kids like you, its to do the best for your kids, and by them letting you do whatever you please, clearly didnt help you (car theif) . . . like who doesnt punish their kids after doing that

I would have to say your parents let you off way to easy my teenage kids would never get off that easy NO WAY!

It looks like your parents were totally irresponsible when it came to your upbringing, and now they are paying for it.

If you want to behave in a more appropriate manner, work toward that.  And if you need help talk with the school counselor... everyone has problems from time to time.
