"The Axe"

Motionless you lay there

To others you are stone

But in my arms you come to life

and to all your life is known

You live and breathe within my soul

And I within your song

We make the rhythm come to life

We sing together as one

We dance as one and turn

The spirit of all who come

To see you ascend from transience

And your fervor freely roam

And when we part to silence

You'll lie again in death

To others you're departed

To me you are at rest

Then once again I'll summon you

To frolic in our paradise

Where you'll live and breathe and dance again

When I bring you back to life.

  1. that is truly a really great poem. its hard to know what your writing about as i tried to analyse each line but came up with 50 different answers. very mysterious. very good poem

  2. The first guy is on to something "The Axe" obviously could be a reference to a guitar.

I also thought it was some what erotic.  About a girl (or guy, I didn't check your gender) who others see are a hard, perhaps callus, stone like, but to you in your paradise or in a state of passion with her/him, she (I am just going to go with she) becomes something much more.

    either way, it has depth.

I like to think of it both ways.  I mean the erotic one is fun, but the idea of it being a guitar and your feeling so comfortable with it, that is very cool.

Brutal time.  I will probably never read it again.  Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great poems I have read from the masters that I will never read again.  Mostly I just don't connect enough to it.  I could reread William Blake's "Poison Tree" everyday for the rest of my life.

So I guess what I am saying is it was an above average poem for this place.  The good thing... I have confidence that there is something you have written that I would read again.

  3. I LOVE IT..! Seriously, I do. :)

I read it several times..I found it up-lifting. Is it about a someone who died, or is suicidal? That's what it sounds like to me...it's beautiful though, the words flow nicely..

  4. verrrry deep. maybe it's about someone you have a lot of control over? i can't really tell.

  5. I think its a great poem and i think its about your relationship with an instrument

  6. That is a beautiful poem. I loved it. It sounds like it is about someone you love whom has passed away, but in your heart she is alive, & in your dreams you hold her once more.  Well thats my interpretaiton. whomever you choose as best answer make sure to say what the poem "is" about...because I'll be back to see what you said. :O)
