Question:

What do you think of my stanza below? (poetry)?

the men of past hammered and wrought

for fame and glory they all sought

but jealous eyes are watchfully sly

and their treasures turned into naught

in the third line i have used the prase 'watchfully sly'; i don't know if an adverb works with an adjective so please inform me if i'm wrong.

  1. I don't believe that poetry has to be grammatically correct, it's art.  Picasso's work wasn't neccesarily correct, but many still found it beautiful.


  2. It works grammatically but it was to vague to evoke any emotion or make sense.   If you have a point you haven't gotten to yet that you were going to make in the next stanza why dont you  redo your question with it.
