What do you think of people from New Jersey?

I'm looking for first-impressions from people who are NOT from New Jersey. For example, say at your work place you're introduced to a new co-worker that is from New Jersey, what is the first thing that pops into your head? Again, I prefer FIRST-impressions. Please be blunt and honest, I appreciate it! :)

  1. I'm from California and I think tough, have tempers and don't take c**p from anybody and in some ways that can be a good thing.

  2. My husband was born in Summit, NJ.

I was "star struck" at first glance.  He was, is and always will be my one and only!!!

  3. I'm from New Jersey lol I think it's funny that so many people think we have this strong accent.  I don't even notice that I have one.  I know when people hear "New Jersey" they think about the pollution, the mafia, the rudeness, and all that bad stuff.  It's true lol.  But I'm not rude, I'm sweet.  :)

  4. attitude, rudeness, assertiveness, fast multi-tasker, talkers, social, competition, dont like to waste time, slow people frustrate them and strong accent.

my ex and his mom has a friend from jersey which I only met in the phone and we started in the wrong foot. she is crazy, hyper and always has a dilemma. so I was all worked up when she had an attitude with me without knowing who I was, she told my ex, that I had an attitude (and I was nice to her cause I was raised in "goody" Florida, kinda like pleasantville), so she said to me: anyways im from jersey, thats all ive got to say.

and I told her Oh, good cause I was born in NY and puerto rican as well, so thats a doble sword baby!

so then she changed her tone of voice and started acting more humble, I guess its normal for northern people to feel the need of defending themselves even without noticing it, because things are tougher up north; even thought I will be more fearful of a extreme nice person, they explode and eat people.

  5.    I live in Ca. and when I meet anyone from back east,

(being I was born and raised in N.Y.) I immediately

feel a bond with them and like them! As for N.J. they

usually have a really heavy accent, and I can immediately

see and hear the difference from New York's, but my own

immediate first impression is, this is probably a great person!

They may seem a little boisterous and head strong, because

many easterners are brought up like that, but they are mainly,

Great People, who will be there if needed, or able to be counted on!

They are more family orientated then most Californians too.

  6. I think they should be branded and sent to camps.  No, wait, that's people from Wisconsin.

  7. I heard New Jersey is very diverse.

I'd probably think of the time where my sister had an imaginary friend named Charlie (Chaaa-lee) lol. She was only 3 at the time. And I know most people from New Jersey don't speak like that, but its so cute on a toddler. (Esp. a toddler who never heard a jersey accent EVER.)

  8. They talk funny. I mean they have a real funny accent on the English language.

  9. Never been to New Jersey. Never met anyone from there either.

  10. 1. Gangstas and rough, tough and do not take trash from anyone

    2. Tough and the type that you do not want to tick off
