in the Premiership etc for red cards in pre-season games/ friendlies?

Michael Chopra of Sunderland has just got a 3 match ban and Rooney had one last year, i think it's wrong to be honest.

  1. i dont think the refs are as harsh during friendlies as they are in normal league games, but as others have said , the same rules apply so if a player does deserve a red card then so be it.

Unfortunate that they will miss 3 games, but the players know the rules as well as the refs.

As for your other suggestion about the suspensions being carried over to the cup games instead of the league, well it could work i suppose, but with them spaced out throughout the year, im sure the players would rather get the ban over and done with sooner rather that spread out.

Fines, yes another good possibility, it could be up to the FA to decide whether a fine is implemented instead of match bans, depending on the incident and would be sorted out on an individual case basis.

    Good Question - star!

  2. yeh i dunt like it!......................

  3. All Footballers are complete p*ssy's, who are overpaid and think they can do whatever they want. BAN THEM FOR LONGER and without pay as well !

    Bunch of Nancy's !

  4. in the premiership (pre season/friendlies) a 3 match ban is rather harsh ....yes if the player deserved the red card all well and good but find other ways/means to punish them rather than a match ban ...perhaps the idea of a fine would be better ...

  5. It takes a lot to get sent off in pre-season, so if you do get a red card, you've probably done something that deserves a ban! I agree completely with suspensions for pre-season red cards.

  6. Not sure about players Sir XY....

    BUT Im sick of them.....

  7. I dont. It is inexcusable to let people off with violent or clumsy behaviour. there is no need for it in a friendly, which makes thinks worse.

  8. i think its correct

  9. Yes its wrong to get red cards in any game i think they shud get more than match suspension maybe if they were to get money taken from there wages everytime they were carded they wud think twice.

  10. In some way I agree and in some I do not. I think they should get a penalty but to completely say it's for EPL games is weird, as if someone is red carded in EPL they can play in CL or vice versa, so kinda dsnt make sense.

  11. as i'm sure you know both mellor and gerrard escaped the ban from the amsterdam tournament, so the usual favouritism applies, and as for rooney he served a 4 match ban, he was not allowed to play the last game of the amsterdam tournament and then a further 3 in the premier, its no co-incidence that chopra and sunderland face liverpool and the people that make these decisions have to give liverpool every chance of winning the league,

AND AS YOU KNOW I ONLY STATE FACTS, MY OPINIONS MEAN NOTHING.

  12. i think its right cos if this rule wasnt in place then there wud be crazy tackles flying in from all angles especially from joey barton lol

  13. The other aspect is that referees are often out to stamp some authority before the season kicks off and can be quite inconsistent with their interpretation of things. Some will give harsh reds for an infraction that another referee would overlook or issue a yellow for. In that case 3 matches automatically is a bit harsh in my opinion. Perhaps the FA need to look at the footage and or incident and decide on individual merit. Some may be worth 3, but others may be worth only a one match ban. Though that would mean some objectivity would be required from the FA, so I wouldn't hold my breathe..lol
