  1. When their chanting levitates 10 ton stones onto a pyramid in Las Vegas, I'll take them out of the crackpot file.

Too much Disney, not enough Darwin.   They give you a bimbo with finger cymbals when you need a Marine.

  2. They're a bit weak and soft.Traditional religions seem to offer something more solid.Having said that I read Deepak Chopra's book 'How to know God' and was impressed with it's blend of science and faith.

  3. I would agree with the tortoise.

  4. That's a hard question to answer unless you're comfortable throwing a blanket of generalization over a very diverse number of beliefs, religions and philosophies. "New Age" seems to cover everything from serious meditation techniques to wearing paper pyramids on your head to gain psychic powers.

When I was "into" New Age philosophies, I read countless books, many of which I discounted as hogwash, some seemed OK but not for me and others had some nuggets of gold that I have held onto. Read and feel what pulls at your heart and what seems logical or reasonable to your head - and investigate it further. There may also be groups that meet for discussion of different topics. I always found these very interesting and lots of fun.

  5. I think that they are funsized like those little chocolate bars.

I can smile with them - they do no harm.Crop circles and crystals seem pretty innocent to me and why not meditate on these thoughts as any other.

  6. the hippies of the sixties are now the oldie's and therefore are the philosophers of life having graduated from the school of life  the next few years will brings out the old punks philosophy's  not quite sure what that will be

  7. Pretty much all nonsense.  I ignore them.

  8. Tortuga Tom does all hooey a great disservice by comparing it to New Age beliefs.

  9. I think new age philosophies are nothing new at all, since a new age is simply the reappearance of something that happened before.

  10. I think there is room for all shades of belief.  No single philosophy has ALL the answers or ALL the truth, and each belief system has some.  Let each person find what is best for us.

  11. "New Age" is really "Old Age". Due to the failure of modern religion people are turning to the old Pagan ways more and more. Which is where the newer religions, such as Christianity and Islam, came from anyway.

  12. I prefer the ones that rhyme.

  13. I think it's a lot of hooey.
