  1. If you are going to be real and honest with yourself and others, the truth is that most of them are completely accurate.

  2. I am a black male and I compose classical music, write novels and poetry.  I work out so am very muscular.  Where I live Perton England, I get stereotyped everyday people think that i am going to mug them or into rap or rnb.  I know that when you 'have made it' as a black person then people seem to look beyond your skin as then they get to know you a lot of stereotypes is based on ignorants and prejudice

  3. People who perpetuate "stereotypes" keep them alive.  A group can overcome sterotypes by consistently and persistently working toward putting the lie to them.

For example, a typical stereotype of black women is that they are on welfare with many children.  You know what? While strides are being made to overcome this stereotype, there remain millions of women who, in fact, subsist on welfare and create yet another generation of kids who do the same.  In some states, the requirement to obtain benefits have become more stringent. Some women actually uproot their families to MOVE to more welfare friendly states. What is wrong with this picture?? I'm not suggesting that ONLY black women do this because we all know that whites, latinas, among others do the same thing.

I am addressing the question of stereotypes, is all. How this practice affects society is faily obvious.  Those who work have to pay MORE taxes to support those who wont. The children in these families embrace "learned helplessness", contribute to crime, requiring MORE taxpayers support in prisons.  The government, thinking it is "helping", continues to HURT this group of people by allowing the "learned helplessness" to go untreated.  Individually, many HAVE overcome this stereotypical lifestyle and gone on to have productive, contributing to society in  a positive way, lifestyles.  When the majority of black women with children GET OFF of welfare, the stereotype will change.

  4. No racial stereotypes are correct because basically you cannot judge an entire race just because of what you have heard.

  5. It affects cause in order to stereotype some races u start to think some have negative carachteristics meanwhile others has good ones, since then, u can think asians are good to science, anglos are hard workers, us, latin americans are good dancers, in fact people is the same everywhere, is just we have different cultural process, however we worth the same.

  6. All stereotypes have some root in reality, which is how they came into being.

However, to generalize or stereotype is ultimately to take the easy way out in explaining a particular group.  That's because while there may be certain similarities due to race, area of the country, religion, etc, at the end of the day, we are all individuals, capable of thinking and acting uniquely.

Most of the time fear and ignorance of other cultures leads to stereotyping as a means of quickly & easily explaining what the person is seeing.

Education & good parenting is the key to breaking free of it.
