What do you think of self mutilation?

Very little, i'm to busy thinking of way's to appreciate the little

time i do have left on this planet, besides, far be it from me

to take away any one's right of freedom of choice, when it

come's to waisting them selves cause there bored or to

stupid to realize they posess a gift that kids in worn torn

countries would kill for, there whole life ahead of them . . .

The young women--adolescents--that I've been involved in treatment with, had been sexually abused.  Esp by neighbors, baby-sitters, or close relatives and who had convinced the child that they would never be believed if they reported the abuse to their parents.  The child then, had to subvert her own feelings in order to endure the abuse in silence.  This ended in prolonged inability to feel her own feelings--even physically.  Self cutting was an avenue through which the y. woman could actually FEEL the pain.  In treatment, once the secret was out, then the cutting decreased and sometimes stopped.  But the young women rarely were able to express fully their feelings--actually, never really able to FEEL their emotions fully!

I think society doesn't take it seriously enough.  If someone is self-mutilating- be it cutting, burning or something else they should seek therapy.  It can start because of depression so I see it as a psychological issue that should be treated.  They shouldn't be chastised the way they are or be labeled as "emo" or "freaks" of society.

Okay, this topic goes into the minds of people. I believe that the people want to be someone other than themselves. It is horrible though.

I thing is;s a silent cry for help!!!!....Sometimes pain can take the place of something that was lacking in a persons life.
