i've been hearing a lot of the same tune coming from a majority of the people i talk to about politics and social issues, everyone seems to have this sense that their voice is futile, and that they are lost within this massive centralized government which is straying further and further from democracy. People who trully care for this country and have good ideas for positive change get pushed to the sides and morphed into indifference because they are surrounded by this apathetic mass that the government puppeteers in line with its own agenda. i was having a talk with my friend about this and what we could do to change some people's minds. We got to talking about lots of things, like spray painting jefferson and paine quotes throughout downtown seattle ect. Things with good intent but probably wouldnt do much to change anything. but then my friend brought up the idea of stronger state government.

  1. Read the Tenth Amendment. If there is any doubt in your mind about how the system is supposed to work, the Tenth Amendment should eliminate said doubts.

  2. I don't know that this is truly the answer.  In my state the Governor makes all the decisions for the state & the City legislators & mayor make all the decisions for the people.  We really have no voice, they decide to do something & they don't allow us to have any voice in these decisions. The part of the toll road that runs through my state was sold to some people from other nations, we paid for it, but we were not given a voice in it's selling!  In the City, they are building a large shopping area/w condominiums downtown which includes a baseball statium, (we already have a good baseball statium with plenty of parking) no one wanted this, but it's being built as I post!  It seems to me that we not only have lost our voice in the Federal government, but within the state & cities as well!

  3. I'm rather both sides of the coin be smaller, but if I had to choose, I would prefer a stronger state government if it meant a weaker federal government.

    I want the states back....

  4. The Feds have usurped State's Rights.  We need to restore the 10th Amendment.

I stand and applaud the State of Oklahoma for taking their Rights back:

  5. That's the way it was originally intended to be, a small federal government with a strong state and local government. Your Governor should have more influence in your life than the president. I would favor returning to that system.

  6. I'm all for that providing the State government is not a partisan political entity with a left wing or right wing agenda. They would have to be able to do the right thing for all of the people, not just the well connected, rich and powerful, like the CA state government who is so far left that you need a frontal lobotomy to deal with them.

  7. Your friend is wise in his beliefs----all politics is local----is a famous quote from "Tip O'Neil" and he knew where the influence should be started----this has been suppressed because of the apathy of the masses.---Some states such as Montana, Vermont, Neveda and some others have shown some signs lately of asserting their soverign rights-----Montana had a large influence on the recent --decision by the SCOTUS in the "gunowners case"
