Of course, this is some town in Texas, and I do realize that the vast majority of Texans are notorious for their glorification of and fascination with firearms. I also realize that they obviously believe there is some utility in allowing teachers to bring firearms to school with which to protect themselves. However, I fail to understand how and WHY school kids feel an urge to bring firearms with them onto school grounds (I'm making the assumption here that the teachers are being allowed to tote weapons so as to protect themselves from the students who also tote weapons- or perhaps even from other teachers at some point in time when tempers flair in a faculty or school board meeting), and I don't understand why the weapons simply aren't completely banned in the first place. That, to me, would be the most sensible and the wisest solution, but I suppose the legislation in Texas views this differently. What do y'all think?

  1. This is the WORST idea I've ever heard. First of all, this is not the solution or answer to the issue. Safety is one of the most basic needs in education. A student must feel safe and comfortable before they can focus on their education. No child is going to feel comfortalbe if they know there are guns in the building. Not only could the gun cause arm, but an environment that causes the need for a gun can not be a safe and comfortable learning enviornment. And, what is their intention with these guns? Use them on the kids? Are you kidding me? Is that what school has come to? If I was a parent of one of those children, I would raise a fit and then pull my child out of that school district. I can only imagine what other idiotic ideas these school administrators have come up with if this is just an example.
