What do you think of the Indy race?

I don't agree with everyone saying it was the worst race ever. No it wasn't your typical driver vs driver kind of race, this was about the entire teams working together. Driver had to made due with what he had, crew chief had to decide what to do and when to do it to try and make the car work, and the pit crew worked more yesterday then in the past month. I really enjoyed the quick sprints and really seeing which team was the true best. Cream always rises to the top right? I understand that ppl who paid alot of money to go to the race might be upset. i would be too. But this was a challenge for the entire field it was cool to watch how the pros handle it.

  1. There were so many cautions that I went outside to enjoy the nice weather we were having.  Popped in now and then for updates and watched it later so I could just fast forward through all the cautions.

  2. It was the worst race ever. A disgrace to NASCAR and the fans. Especially the fans at the track. Paying good money to watch Saturday night heat races on Sunday afternoon.

I would have preferred a wreck fest to 8 lap heat races.

    Rant over.

  3. It was maybe a sprint but I'd hardly call it a race!  There really should have been something they could do about the tire wear.  A caution every few laps is not a race..it's pit strategy.

  4. Yea....the race was won in the PITS....JEFF G get screwed again, on his 2nd to last (or was it last) pit for 4 tires....he was dropped to 14th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Hamlin as a driver didn't belong in the top 5, he got there through pit strategy.

SHOULDA been Jeff G vs Jimmy vs Carl E FOR THE WIN!!

  5. The tire issuses were c**p,but Kyle Bush did not win,and that made it a great race.Watching Jimmy and Carl Edwards pass all those cars towards the end was awesome.I don't understand why they couldn't have used the tires from Pocono, this was dangerous.I also felt bad for Matt K

  6. have always said and will continue to say that SAFETY FIRST should be everyone's major priority no matter whether they are fans or involved in the sport in any other way.

Racing is a dangerous sport and all of us have seen deaths of participants which might have been avoided had common sense prevailed.

If there are no more deaths in any type of racing this would be a fantastic thing in my personal opinion.

  7. The racing itself was horrible.  It had some decent action in between cautions.  Watching Jimmie Johnson be able to pass cars the way he did ALL day was awesome.  Even though it was only from 8-10 spots each time.

Watching Jr go a lap down, finally get the lucky dog, and work his way back up to the top 10 (even though his crew lost him several spots on that last stop) to finally finish in the top dozen was cool.

Kyle Busch NOT winning alone made it a pretty decent race in my opinion.  Oh yeah...HMS is back!

Edit:  This was no more unfair to anyone than California was to Casey Mears and Dale Jr.  I'd rather watch them have to take care of their tires a little more than I would watch them "race" on a WET track.  Kenseth himself even said he knew the tire was going down 2 LAPS earlier, he should have pitted.

  8. It was tire heavy!

I only enjoyed it for the fact my favorite driver was in the top 5 at the finish (Go 24!) and my other fav driver won the race!  Go 48!

Personally, I think Goodyear has got to fix it next season or else their reputation as NASCAR's tire supplier is in jeopardy!

Overall I give the race an 8 out of 10!

  9. I thought it was an interesting race.  So many cautions though.  I was happy Jimmie won.  Until the final pit stop he was generally losing about 3 spots every pit, it was driving me crazy.

  10. Despite the huge egg Goodyear layed at the feet of NASCAR, I feel the crews, drivers, and NASCAR did a very good job of making the most out of a potentially disastrous situation.

Another thing, no matter what you thionk of ESPN's ability to cover the race, I would have been PISSED if I were the head of ESPN. Thier first race of the season (?) and Goodyear flops a 10 lap tire in thier faces. Don't be surprised if ESPN sues Goodyear. Goodyear screwed up, and they KNEW IT! Why else would they bring tires that were scheduled to go Pocono? Even though they knew those tires were SOFTER than the Indy tires. What a mess that would have been, if they had to race on those tires. I'll bet they would have only gotten 6-8 laps on those tires.

I'd venture to guess NASCAR looks into the possibility again of having another tire manufacturer available for the teams to choose from. I sure would like to see how much money is being passed under the table between NASCAR and Goodyear, abd I'll bet this week's check from Goodyear is a bit larger than ones in recent weeks.....

    Oh, by the way    S C R E W    TONY STEWART!

  11. i think nascar did the best they could

  12. It was a horrible race and it was rigged. The only reason they

had so many cautions because of tire wear was so that the

top 12 would not blow tires and end up falling outside of the top 12. It all has to do with money and pleasing the sponsors.

If it was a real race where they didn't worry about sponsors

and money, then they would have let them race and blow

tires and not worry if their precious Dale Jr fell out of the top

    12. They would have let the dominoes fall as they fell and let

the true winner win even if it meant a field filler win like JJ Yeley or Dave Blaney etc.

  13. NASCAR should have killed the "competition cautions" at 1/2 way....NASCAR and the teams knew what the tire wear was....NASCAR should have let the teams decide when to pit...running more green flag laps...and let strategy play out.  Telling the field that a yellow will drop in X # of laps is not the way to run an entire race.

Also....they could not have drug tires behind the track trucks at some point between testing and the race to see if the track would hold more rubber?  It is not rocket science....either the grooves improve rubber laying down, or they degrade it.......Looks like Indy will need to get some grinders out and eleminate the grooves, or resurface the track.  If something is not done, NASCAR needs to go elseware until the Brickyard is improved.

  14. Congrats to JJ and his fans but MAN that was the worst race ever for me.  Was really painfull to watch all those good drivers struggle and to see Matt K 's whole back end blow, and all the cautions.

The highlight of that race for me...was watching Elliot Salder bring home 4th!!

  15. It has to be the worst race ever.  How could it not be.  I mean, what an embarrassment?!  How to ruin one of the crown jewels of Nascar.  1)  Change the name of the race from Brickyard 400 to Allstate 400.  (How long til the Daytona 500 is the Sunoco 500) Lame. 2)  Have no practice session for the event even though it is a) a crown jewel race b) they've always tire problems at Indy c)  They're racing the COT there for the first time.  3)  Have a competion caution every 10 laps.  I would have rathered they canceled or postponed the event than ran the race this way.

  16. aren't you just a happy go lucky person.  I suppose in total harmony.  You aren't smoking some dubies are you?

  17. I was happy with the outcome but it was the WORST "race" I have ever seen.  What a joke!  The team that deserved to win did but it was very unfair to chase contender Matt Kenseth.  Goodyear should be sued.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  18. it was horrible...... to pay that kind of money to watch a race that you can only go 11 laps before your right side tire blow...... Goodyear really messed up this time....... tony right good year needs to pull out if they can not produce good tires......... the only reason why jimmy won was because he has the poll, he has the best pit stall...... does not take a genius to figure out that he would win.... i called it 35 laps in....... they was not that great of competition........ but hey stuff happens..... maybe good year can move on and really test there tires so we do not have this incident again........

INDY RACE was not the best race of the year on a scale from 1 to 10 .... 10 being the best i give it negative  - 10........ they new the tires were bad at practice they should of came up with something else before the race.........

no mandatory practice/ test...... that the result you get...... bad tires and the worst race of the season......!
