What do you think of the NRL salary cap?

Should the NRL salary cap Be Higher or should there be no salary cap ( or its ok now) with all these players going to France or whatever for the $$$

You must have a salary cap, it has been the best thing, along with the draft to happen to the AFL, the biggest problem facing the NRL trying to get the extra revenue to increase it and stop the mass exodus of players to England!! I don't know what Gallop can do, the TV rights don'y pay enough and the crowds are so poor that clubs get nothing from the gate, Geelongs last 2 games have earned them over $1,000,000 clear profit with big crowds at the MCG, it's about time Rugby people started going to the games and put a few bucks back into the clubs, NRL crowds are a joke!!!

you need a salary cap otherwise the strong teams will only get stronger and the weak teams will die and we will have a comp with 4 teams.

but players should be allowed to make money outside of there contract.

players leaving you must blame the nrl no reserved grade you dont make top 25 and you are a decent player where are you going go overseas.

as for players like gasnier its only money he was making $500000 if that s not enough good riddance i say

Agree with Louis, must have a cap or the strong get stronger and the weak weaker. The cap needs to be changed to reflect local juniors and long term players. If a player comes through the juniors then there should be so much of their payments not included in the salary cap. Similarly, if a players is long term at a club, say minimum 7 years, also get discount on cap I realise that a juniors dispensation would disadvantage clubs like Easts and Melbourne but if they don't have juniors, bad luck.

As well players should be able to earn monies outside of their contracts without affecting the salary cap.

It should be higher, or it should be scrapped. I'm sick of this bullshite that clubs cant afford this or that because they cant get arses on seats. That is their OWN problem. Fairplay to the Broncos, Titans, Cowboys, Bulldogs and to an extent, the Panthers management, who know how to run a profitable club. Wasn't it 40 years ago that giants like the Dragons and Rabbitohs dominated the competition because they had all the money?? Now that non-NSW clubs have all the money there is nothing they can do but complain and bring in stupid americanized rules into our sport.

well if you want a competition were only 2 or 3 teams can win the competition then scrap the salary cap.

if you want an even comp with parity and fairness, then the cap remains.

personally i like a comp thats even were any team can win!

Retain the salary cap. Spread what money there is around more evenly. I would rather have a team with five Craig Wings or similar to a team with one Mark Gasnier. Let the prima-donnas bugger off. Every player that signs with the NRL knows there is a salary cap and that income is limited. There are hundreds of good kids lining up for their chance.
