What do you think of the Weatherby Vanguard Sub MOA?

I can get one brand new for $400.00, is that good, or should I go with a Remington SPS for $467.00?

  1. hold on there buckaroo.

There is the weatherby vanguard synthetic that weatherby is calling the 399 weatherby...like it is a new cartridge from them, but really it is a gun that will sell for $399.

In addition there is the traditional vanguard, which comes with a stainless steel barrel and is priced usually at about $500

Note, at the factory weatherby testfires it's guns.  Any gun that shows exceptional accuracy is pulled aside for further testing.  If it can get sub MOA results, it is specailly marked and stocked and sold.  Generally these go for $1000.

I suspect you were given the price for a Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic, a Weatherby 399, NOT the Vanguard sub MOA.

Either way, the 399 seems like a real good deal, go for it.

  2. Remingtons are hard to beat. The Vanguard series are not the same quility as the older Weatherbys.

  3. $400 is an absolute steal.  I Love 700s, but that is a no-brainer.  Absolutely NOTHING wrong with a current production Vanguard, and the Sub MOA is a thing of beauty.  They are practically a factory custom rifle.  They have to shoot .75MOA to get out of the factory and recieve the Sub MOA label.    No thin barrel SPS will come close to that from the factory.  No Way, No how.
