Because in my honest opinion the design seems to be something too typical of a stadium and seems to hold less people that the birds nest because honestly more than twice the numner of 80000 want to attend the opening couldnt they make it atleast 100000 and with a much bolder design.

I like this design better. This was one of their proposed plans:

The stadium is in the middle.

  3. yep, Like Manchester for the Commonwealth Games (2002) and Sydney Olympics (2000) - the stadium will be scaled down and will be used for smaller scale events after the olympics. I think the environment will be a big theme at these Olympics - I think UK should really emphasise green / sustainable issues in 2012.

  4. The London's design supposed to be meaningful. It consisted of 5 superimposed rings. The bird nest is less seating than the Sydney's stadium however, which had 2 temporary wings on each end to hold more people during the olympics, but got taken down after the event. So its all come down to how to use the stadium during and after the Olympics more sufficiently.

  5. would have been cool if you supplied a picture or a link
