Like him or not, no one in their right mind could deny he made us think about the society we live in and its little twists that are nonsensical.

  1. Well, I've had a really bad day.  I was listening to Sirius radio and Howard Stern and friends were all doing these George Carlin clips, but they never said why.  So I was enjoying them as I drove along, all the time wondering what was up, sort of suspecting bad things but not believing it.  Then Robin Quivers chimes in and announces his passing and I almost cried right there.  Then I listened a little longer and actually did start tearing up.

George Carlin was and will be for some time to come, a very prescient comedian.  He knew what was coming.  He saw through a lot in the world that was designed to obscure the truth and wasn't afraid to tell us about it.  His last HBO special was very strange now that I think about it.  He was basically giving us all a lecture about the world we live in and how we needed to wake up before it ruins us all.  In a way it was like his own eulogy.

I can't really believe he's not with us, but it's comforting to have so much of him preserved forever.  I'll miss that little Irishman a ton.

  2. The greatest thing about George Carlin was when you watched him he not only made you laugh (sometimes so hard I almost peed myself) but he also made you think. He helped me question this world that we live in and not just roll over when told. He was brilliant. Today is a very sad day. Rest in Peace George.

  3. He was the greatest. He cut through the BS and said what people were thinking but were too PC to say out loud.

He would have been annoyed with the hero worship he'll be getting right now, but he deserved it. Thank you, George!

  4. it is so sad! almost like a family member passing away. he spoke so true about a lot of things. i have learned a lot from the man. he will truly be missed!

  5. It's very sad, but such is life...

  6. George Carlin... man what a genius! The world just got stupid.  I wonder if he got a 2 minute warning...

  7. I was very sadden to hear about his death!! :(   I first saw him when I was 17,my then BF had rented 2 of Carlin's acts "At Carnegie" and "on Campus" ,I'd never seen his work until then, and I recall laughing so hard,I couldnt believe some of the stuff he was saying!!!,there will never be another like him,I know I'll miss his sarcasim, yet logical humor.

  8. Im devasted, I think the man was a genious. He was not only hilariously funny, but he was one of the greatest thinkers of all time. He made us re-examine everything we've ever been taught, and to think for ourselves, yet he was a very humble and caring human being who could laugh at himself as well. Everybody dies, I guess it was his turn, but he left something behind for generations to come that is inexplicably unique to him. Another bright star in the universe, faded, but never burned out.

  9. It's a huge loss :(  I'm very sad.

  10. I saw him about 20 years ago.......he was incredible......I'll miss him.

  11. I loved George Carlin.  He was the greatest stand-up comedian (in my opinion).  I feel lucky that I got to see him live a couple years ago.  He will be missed.

  12. He was a great man. I still like some of his solutions to modern day problems and I wish they were put into action. He was funny but also pragmatic.  Love you George!

  13. Terrible. I think George Carlin was brilliant and much more than merely a comedian. He told everything like it was, selling out to no one. He exposed the flaws and atrocities commited by religion, politicians, and the human race as a whole. He is absolutely BRILLIANT! A GENIUS!!!

  14. He had an ecentric and very funny outlook on life. I'll miss him.

  15. It sounds like a lot of people are saddened by his death, so I'll just respectfully say that when I die, I hope I'm not best known for helping to fill society with profanity.

  16. God damned shame. I'll miss him. I own pretty much every work he put out. The man was a genius.

  17. He was one of the better comics out there, for sure.  Top 10 of all time.  I wonder if God had a little talk with him about that "rock" joke?

  18. Very sad

  19. I am deeply shaken by his death. It is tragic when the world loses such genius. I hope they gag at his funeral. =*(

  20. The man was a comic innov8r. & I loved him as Rufus on "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure"! & I thought that I had known w/o lookin' it up the seven dirty words. As soon as I looked it up on Wikipedia, most of my assumptions were right, although those aren't the only taboo words out there. Hard 2 believe, but I am learning 4 the 1st time the "auxiliary" word of "watt" (that's actually a anagram of the real word). All this time, I've only herd "beaver." So I raise my glass 2 Mr. Carlin & w/ respect I offer these parting words...

  21. Its always sad when a legend dies... and love him or not, he was a legend.

  22. My husband introduced me to the world of George Carlin.  I'm probably not a part of his typical fan base, but I loved him!!  We are both so very sad that he has passed.  My husband has been down since he first heard this morning.  We saw him a few years ago before we married at the Beacon Theater in NYC.  He was amazing.  His most recent HBO show in CA was great also.

He was a legend and a genius and he will be sorely missed and forever loved and cherished.

  23. Very sad, I loved his hilarious takes on political and social issues, he made us think,  he was a comic genius.

  24. I was and still am in shock. I haven't cried over a celebrity since Frank Sinatra died. George was the best comedian that ever lived - no one else made me laugh as much as he did.

    I will him dearly.

    May he rest in peace.

  25. Tonight's forecast for everybody who didn't like George Carlin: Dark!
