  1. You are not giving much information but I think you are talking about a lake that didn't dry up but rather drained dry.

    What happened was that it was a lake created by an ice dam.  The ice melted, as they always do, and all the water rushed out of the lake, creating a flood along the down stream river.  The water completely drained out and left a "dry lake bed".  I would guess that the lake bed was not completely dry for some time although things can dry quickly at high altitudes.

    Some people are trying to read into this event a conclusion that is difficult to support.  Anecdotal evidence is not science.
