I was looking through a baby name site and I saw Roderick but I didn't really like that so I changed it up a little and came up with Roddick. I like unusual names but do you like this name? I personally think it's adorable. What about you?

  1. The child would be teased relentlessly. Names that include slang terms for genitalia should automatically be vetoed. It's not your son you have to be worried about being cruel- it's the other boys who like you said, will be boys.

  2. No, Roddick would get teased constantly. Not only would he get teased, but he would be embarassed by his name. Imagine at highschool graduation: "Roddick [Lastname]" over the michrophone. How about Rodney or Broderick? Good luck! :o)

  3. Any name that has a word d**k in it does not sound good... sorry...

  4. I agree with another poster...you would be setting this kid up for torment.  No kid should have both the name Rod and d**k in it, just because boys can be imbeciles.  I do, however, like the name Roderick.  Not quite so available for insults.

  5. I'll always think of the tennis player - Andy Roddick.  Because, damnnnn he's foxy.  And an ace to boot.

I'd say it's unique.  But not in a terribly good way.

I think Roderick is a better option.  Perhaps it doesn't flow as well, but it also doesn't have such blatant p***s references as the first answer points out.

I don't adorable names make particularly good names in the long run.  What 40 year old man wants to be 'adorable'.  They don't want 'adorable' names.  Take a poll of grown men and ask them what they'd want people to describe their name as - handsome, professional, smart - probably.  Adorable?  Unlikely.

  6. Sorry--don't like it. What do you think 12 year old boys will do with a name like Rod d**k?  Exactly.  Don't set the kid up to be tortured.

  7. It makes me think of Vin Diesel's "Riddick" movie.

Riddick is a really cool, kick-a** guy. You should watch the movie, too!

  8. Sorry but I don't like it and I automatically thought something bad when I read it. Please don't choose this name for your child, there are plenty of other unique names out there that you can name him and please don't feel over whelmed by all the negative remarks you've gotten for this question. This is a time of joy choosing your childs name be patient and keep looking it will come to you. I felt like you just a few months ago I was about to deliver and couldn't come up with something unique enough either but on the week before I delivered my husband told me he had come up with the name Tessa Jade. I instantly liked it and on December 25th at 12:24pm we named her. Good Luck with your baby name hunting and Have Fun!!! Please let us know what you come up with!!

  9. bad

  10. I think the potential for teasing is HUGH - as is the potential for people mistaking it for "Roderick"

Why not just name him Rod or Roderick and call him Roddick or Roddy?

Roderick means "Famous power", which is pretty cool...
