The cheesy sci-fi flick "The Andromeda Strain" pretty much killed any chance of my liking the name. It is just a little too sci-fi geek for my taste. Renae is good though.

I have always had a love/hate relationship with the name Andromeda. On one had, it's an eye-catching name with interesting mythological and literary associations. The nicknames that derive from this name are cute: Ana, Andy, Romy, Meda. That the name is a constellation makes it even cooler in my book. However, I've always found the meaning of the name, 'to think of a man', to be a little bit off. I also dislike that in mythology Andromeda was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a sea monster...

I know I'm going to be in the minority here, but I don't particularly like the name Renae. For starters, I prefer the original French spelling of the name: Renée. Secondly, the name doesn't appeal to me all that much because it is a common name with people my age. I guess it makes sense to use the name Renae if you're honouring someone... But if the name is not significant to you, there are some more interesting names you could use.

Renae is very nice.

Andromeda makes me think to the mythology, she was immolated to expiate mother's faults :)
